i after buying a 04 1.9td ford galaxy. it will drive perfect with loads of power then after a while-maybe an hour it loses power, not missing or anything just sluggish. it will still drive but very slow to build up speed. if the car is left parked up for couple of hours or untill next morning it will drive away perfect again. after changing all filters and still the same. any ideas before i take it to the garage. it has a vw 115 bhp engine. thanks

Could be mass air glow metre but you would need a proper diagnosis to be sure.

Thanks martinr5232. would that cause it to lose power only sometimes? i was thinking id need to take it to someone with diagnostics , just thought it might be something simple

Yeah it could do. Have you any lights on the dash when it loses power ??

no lights on or anything like that. would a fault be stored or would it need to be down in power when the diagnostics is plugged in?

You may just bring it to a good mechanic and get them to diagnose it.
Its only guess work without seeing it.

Turbo vanes sticking. Does it lose power when the revs get fairly high 1800- 2000 rpm?

i havent noticed it happening at any revs in particular

Turbo vanes sticking/blocked egr is common enough. Sounds like limp mode anyway so should have fault codes stored you to work with.

if turbo vanes were sticking would the car not be down in power more often? sometimes i can drive around without losing power

The sticking vanes don't really show themselves until the revs rise and the actuator tries to move them to reduce the rising turbo pressure.
