Simple question. If you had to choose which one you prefer, which would it be.

I look forward to ridiculously detailed and nuanced debate.

Or alternatively a big 'meh' response. :pac:

Cool people are allowed like Star Wars. Star Trek is only for nerds.

    They may be allowed.

    But they don't.

    But they don't.

    Like you'd know.

I once met a cool person.

The first Star Trek prequel was an absolutely brilliant film, most of the old ones were a pile of sh1te though.
    Can't abide Star Wars tbh.

Star Trek is way better, Star Wars is so unrealistic!

Always preferred the Star Wars universe - the stories, the characters, the heroes and villains, lightsabers, R2D2, Wookiees, the force etc. etc.

    Star Trek isn't bad though.

Stargate. It doesn't take itself too seriously. Fine franchise!

    One word: lightsabers.

    /thread.

Star Wars would be better if it hadn't been continually ruined by the very man who created it.

Star Trek is still my fave but it has had longer to be fleshed out. Probably be shot down for saying this but I loved the initial reboot as well.

Star Wars for me, only episodes 4-6 though. The new ones to me do not even exist. IMO I think Lucas was trying to incorporate 'Star Trek' themes in episodes 1-3 what with all that trade federation, space politics nonsense, which was a big factor in totally ruining those 3 films.

I like Star Trek because it gives a plausible if ultimately Utopian trajectory for human civilization into the future.

Star Wars had so many great characters and conflicts but Star Trek had Spock, Dumbledore et al.

I watch more Trek, but I like Wars too.

Someone once asked me which I preferred and when I gave the answer above they wouldn't talk to me any more. Why can't we all just get along?

Stargate is already done so I'll go for Battlestar Galactica.

Can you compare them? They are both so different. First of all Star Wars was "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away" but star trek is set in the future of humans and other alien species!

Star Wars is kind of the battle of good v's evil. Star Trek is kind of more about learning to live and learn about other species in space and evolving.

I like both, but not fanatical about either. Used to watch Star Trek Next Generation and Deep Space Nine and the one with Janeway but I hate the one with Kirk, I just dont like the colouring or something of films and programmes at that time and it turns me off, haven't watched any of the star trek films either and I have watched the original Star Wars Trilogy but not the prequels.
