    What an idiot.

I sincerely hope that chip vans, ice cream vans, bread vans etc all pass her by every half hour of her strike.

    Dope

    Dear Marion.

If you spot a shop selling grips, go in and buy one. You are not Joan of Arc.

I am setting up a book on how long she lasts before giving up her 'strike'. We measure in hours, not days.

Would you be worried if this person was in charge of your children?

She doesn't sound all that well balanced.

She said teachers are at war over proposals which would see them correct their own students work.
God forbid they'd have to correct their own students work instead of getting paid extra to correct other students work.

I presume her hunger strike will be from 9.30-15.00 and not on weekends or holidays.......;)

Mentalist. All that academia in teacher training obviously pops something in their little branes. :pac::pac::pac:

They really let themselves down when they are allowed out of the classroom and into the real world

What a silly bitch. I'll give her 3 days max before she stops and says she has made her point.

Would not like her teaching my children!

I always thought that hunger strike should mean striking from hunger. Maybe she's just going to spend all day eating.

I'd sack her with immediate effect.

Hardly a positive sign to be sending out to young adults that their teacher endorses suicide when the cause is "right".

Tea isn't food... she'll drink loads of tea!

I'd go as far as saying she's displaying the average teacher's sense of entitlement, but some of the replies here are a bit harsh to say the least, and I most definitely wouldn't want any of ye teaching my kids. :)

What is the problem with the new junior cert? With how teachers are acting it would give you the impression that it was important.

I hope this goes viral and every teacher goes on hunger strike.

At first, it's grand like. Bit of a session, few smokes going around, maybe some weed - a real good buzz around the place. The clock rings for the Angela's. The realisation that dinner is ready at the aul lady's place sets in, nobody has eaten since this morning's fry up.

After some time, the smokes and alcohol run out, for some the munchies set it. Eventually the teachers resort to eating one another, at first it was just the fat old guy nobody liked. He had no family, so it didn't matter. But soon things get worse, things step up a notch. After 19 hours of no food we've got a serious issue on our hands - An organised teacher cannibalistic survival zombie crime syndicate; full of carnage, death, misery and pain. Soon their numbers will dwindle and eventually only two teachers remain - they have fallen in love. But with that hunger for passion, comes a real hunger. A hunger for human flesh (and probably burgers).

Can the teachers' love for one another transcend mankind's natural desire for survival and food (human flesh and burgers). What will prevail? Basic Biology or Love?

    End Scene.

They say this new plan whereby they'd have to grade their own pupils on project and/or practical work would damage the teacher-pupil relationship. A cynic might suggest the real problem with it is that it might involve actual work, during the working week, during the school semester, as well as cutting down on "Invigilating"* gigs during traditional exam time.

    * From Latin Invigilatus, meaning "to sit around staring blankly at the ceiling while chewing a biro and furtively scratching one's crotch and getting paid a sodding fortune for it."

ah sure I've piled on the pounds with all those Easter eggs like. Was planning on going on a diet anyhow like, now I have the perfect excuse like.

    Indeed, Ms. wallace.

Shush - what's important is that people can get their digs in at teachers. You tell them what this is about or try and encourage some independent thinking here and that all goes out the window.

    EDIT
Teachers - Teachers don't want to mark their own students because it will lead to inequality in comparison and assessment as some teachers may be biased or overestimaet their students' abilities (makes sense)
AH - Teachers don't want to mark their own students because they're lazy (doesn't need to make sense)

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

If it wasn't for the Junior Cert, the average AH member wouldn't have the vast political knowledge and awareness that CSPE taught them, meaning the numerous intelligent and profound comments we read regularly on this forum would not exist.

    :pac:

When somebody is prison goes on hunger strike it puts pressure on the prison authorities and others because that person while in prison is in their care and custody. If this woman goes home to her house and starves herself it's entirely her own business and her own choice. It's legal for her to do it. Quite tragic and utterly pointless.
Of course when her body starts to consume itself and irreversible damage kicks in you learn the difference between dramatic emotion and true commitment.

While it would indeed be quite pleasing to imagine a teacher doing some sort of a Thich Quang Duc to protect the integrity of some youngfellas exam grading lest he be unfairly denied something-or-other, I'm not quite buying it. :pac:

Dumb move, but work should be corrected by a third party.

Is that what they are calling the Trocaire Fast these days?

And endorses eating disorders to a bunch of impressionable teens. Well done Miss!
