    I feel like I totally peaked from 25 - 29 and felt and looked better than ever. Cue 30 and it was like being hit by a train. Only have to look at food and I put on weight. Looking for a seat in the pub because "my legs are tired". Taking two days to recover from a session. And don't even get me started on 31. Every day there is another white fúcker sprouting from my head. Yoink...then another two grow in it's place :mad: As for stairs..... Nothing sets you back for the day like walking up stairs :)

    I've certainly been better. Knocked football on the head because of my leg and it's been hard to find time to replace it but I'm working on it.

    Could be an illusion.

    Many a person appear and feel healthy when, in reality, they could be harbouring a serious illness whose symptoms have not yet manifest or, worse, hosting a potentially life-threatening condition.

    Late to the party too. Got decently fit in late 20's and managed to lose weight Id been stockpiling since starting college. I have noticed though that once you're in your early 30's it takes more and more effort just to stand still.

    29 and so far not a sign of a receding hairline nor a gray hair - I'll take that. Either one or the other has kicked in for all my mates at this stage.

    Put on maybe half a stone since Christmas, but that's down to being manic at work with a major project, getting home late, eating junk food and not having time to exercise. Should be able to sort that all out in a few weeks when it's over.

    34 and in great shape, 8% body fat, good muscle definition.

    However, I don't drink, smoke, eat sugar, refined carbs, have very small amounts of saturated fats. I eat lots of vegetables, beans, complex carbs and lean meats and I only drink water or green tea.

    Only problem I have is when I am bulking I go to the toilet about 5 times a day.

    I get loads of people tell me I would prefer to be unhealthy and happy, but I am a very happy person, meanwhile all they do is complain about everything in their lives. I haven't had a drink in 12 years and it was the best thing I ever did.

    I agree, there is no way that a a overweight unhealthy person is deep down happy.

    They are equating happiness to the feeling they get whilst eating wrong foods rather then general life happiness.

    Regarding athletic ability, there is a difference between being 28 and 21 in the respect that you will get away with less nonsense. You need to work a bit harder on diet; sleep; recovery than you did at that age and that will only ramp up. But you can still be in great shape if you work hard.

    I'm 29 and there's a massive difference between me now and when I was 23. Back then I could play sports and be fine the next day. Now? I'd feel the previous days excercise in my arms, upper and lower back, knees and ankles. Also, no amount of pizza would make me put on weight. Now, that's not the case (although I'm still relatively thin).

    It's just the way it is though. I play hurling and intend to keep doing so until my body breaks.

    Yep I hear ya bro, 29 soon and anytime i seem to push myself be it weights running astro, usually in pain after it if not having tweeked something somewhere along the way. Suffering with a bad back for a few years now and finding it hard to shift the pain.

    Being going grey for a few years, still majority black but it's noticeable. I've long hair but not receding so I don't care about it changing colour, as long as I get to keep my precious locks *pats hair*

    Quit the smokes back in August so feel a lot better though I had an asthma attack that put me in hospital around the same time, first bit of asthma I've had in 20 years (never needed an inhaler which is how I got caught out) and now I regularly get it and have to use an inhaler frequently so that's annoying. Can't drink certain beers now without it triggering a wheeze and coughing.

    Getting myself another check-up to find out more about that but otherwise I'm in decent shape.

    :pac: Lucky you that you've only got this in your 40s. I was born that way. Seriously. My mom said that when I was born, the nappies she had originally bought for me didn't fit so she had to re-order a bigger size from Kenya (different country from where I was born)to fit my larger than expected bum. Black girl problems.

    Like a lot of other people, at around 30 I lost my apparent immunity to fatness. I'm now 35 and lean, but since quitting smoking it seems I'd get fat pretty easily if I ate a bad diet or didn't exercise.

    I also noticed my blood pressure was close to emergency levels of hypertension at the start of this year. However now it is barely above normal. Greatly decreased salt consumption, increased potassium consumption, refused to continue to undertake various responsibilities in order to lower stress.

    My general health and fitness are very good, but now I need to actively look after both now to maintain them much more than I did when I was younger.

    I LOL'd like a crazy person at this. Fair play to ya. Work dat ass!

    I actually think I'm in better shape now than I was ten years ago at 18 / 19. Slimmer for sure and I've sort of 'grown into' my face and body, back then I was a bit awkward looking, hadn't figured out what my body likes/dislikes, ate far too much and had terrible skin.

    I exercise now, but not excessively. I also eat less, not necessarily healthier but a good deal less and I know what my body reacts badly to EG dairy, red meat, alcohol, too much rubbish.

    I have noticed I can't get away with eating like a horse for a week and not gaining any weight - I can gain half a stone at the drop of a hat if I overeat. And the hangovers are terrible, they were never great but these days they roll into two or three days at even a moderate amount - any more than three drinks really.

    A few rogue grey hairs and the odd bit of adult acne, but generally I think I'm a lot more self-aware when it comes to my body and look a lot better for it.

    As a young adult, I don't think I have this "immunity" to fatness thing I hear a lot of posters reminiscing about. I have to eat pretty reasonably or I'll gain weight quick enough.

    I'm 28 and the weight falls off me and I have to put a real effort into putting it back on. Sounds great in theory, but I'd like some more padding in strategic places, and when you don't put on weight there's little incentive to eat healthily, which I'm sure will bite me on my scrawny ass at some point in the future.

    In terms of aesthetics I think I look better now than I ever have and I'm comfortable in myself. That wasn't the case for a long time. In the last few years I've gained a bit of muscle mass and my stamina is fairly good. Tendonitis is a problem though and the hamstrings are rather tight. I'm not as fast as I was but that's not really an issue.

    26 yrs old and in very poor shape. 4 stone overweight and very unfit. Was digging a grave today and the right side of my lower back went into sudden spasm. I'm not in much pain but I'm leaning severely over to the right. I'm trying to stretch it out but not having much luck.

    But I've been sick for days as the redneck who owns the field across has been spraying manure for 3 days solid with the breeze blasting me to pieces.

    He's at in in the morning and still at it when I get back at 6pm which means he's badly orginised or he's spraying the same patch for 3 effing days ( seems like overkill to me).

    The smell is so ferocious I puked between getting out of the car and rushing to the door. Inside is as bad as it comes steaming down the chimney. Had to get back into car and drive for a few miles for the third day now. 3 best days of the effing year as well.

    Surley a small field only needs one day of ****

    You shouldn't be wearing out by 28 really, are you unhealthy? Do you not exercise regularly? Human bodies hit decline at about 25 or a little bit later so really you shouldn't be noticing any noticeable differences in metabolism or fitness levels yet.

    In the early mornings and late evenings I have begun to get very stiff, which only involves minor aches and pains throughout, but still, id prefer if it wasn't the case. I guess its not going to get much better with the passing years.

    Imagine, living in the countryside and having to put up with that.
    If you're that sick from just the smell of manure move to a city.

    I've always felt a large part of it is down to people forgetting how active they were when they were younger, compared to when they hit their late 20s and are spending most of their time stationary at work.

    We spend most of our time stationary at college and school too though..I have considerably longer hours of architecture in college than my father does at work and I find more time for exercise than him.
    A lot of older people like to just blame their weight gain on ageing and not their lack of exercise and eating fatty foods all the time
