Garmin Edge 500 Questions

    Hi all,

I currently have a Bryton Rider 20, but I'm considering an upgrade.

It looks like the Garmin Edge 500 can do some simple navigation tasks. Namely guiding you on a predownloaded route and telling you when you have gone off route. Has anyone used this function and does it work well?

My current Bryton has a cadence sensor and HRM. Would these ANT+ peripherals pair with the Garmin?

Thanks. Hope ya'll are enjoying some nice weather.

Yes your Bryton sensors will work with the Garmin unit.

Yes. It's fairly basic and will show a line following the direction you should be taking, along with turn by turn directions, e.g. second exit roundabout, left onto R215 etc. I've done three tours around unfamiliar terrain in France with it and gotten on grand.

Yes, but rather than following a line, I put instructions where to turn at potentially confusing junctions or roundabouts. Works well. You can even put information like, eat now, climb ahead, food stop in 10k, etc.

In regards to line, I find if the route is long, say, over 100km, the line takes longer and longer to refresh until it becomes unusable.

    Regards
