Do the Judge Rinder producers pay the judgement cost?

    When people go on shows like Judge Rinder or Judge Judy and judge rules in favour of one or the other, does the show producers pay the judgement ?
    Or what's the actual benefit of seeking fair judgement by going to TV court-show?

    I'm not sure about Rinder but I know that, according to the Wiki page, Judge Judy's producers pay the fees. I don't know how they weed out the fraud though.

    It's not actually a real court, and Rob Rinder isn't even a real judge, he's a barrister. The producers pay whatever sum is awarded, and both parties get paid an appearance fee regardless of what happens.

    Mostly fake stories. Can't find the full episode but here's the ending from one.


    Hilarious case and they detailed the whole process, from them making up the story to the producers paying for their hotel and the amount awarded in judgement.

    All of those judge reality shows are filmed in TV studios, they're not actual courtrooms. The "judge" is basically an impartial third party, and a contract is signed before you appear on the show to say that whatever ruling they make is binding.

    So when the "Judge" makes a ruling, what legal consequence is there to make sure that ruling happens, like if one person is awarded $5,000 what's stopping the other person not paying.

    The other person doesn't have to pay. The show pays whatever has been awarded.

    Because they're denied the satisfaction of the other person not being awarded any money? I've no idea. Why would anyone choose to reveal the father of their baby on the Jeremy Kyle show? Some people are just odd.

    Just because he is not a judge, and a barrister, doesn't mean he isn't any less qualified to rule on small claims. As far as I am concerned Rob has been in law for many years, and is a criminal barrister. He knows what he's doing.

    No it's not fake, they sign a contract that they're happy with the rulings and it's legally binding. As far as payments, they're paid by the producers and I think the said person who gets paid the other person being sued may owe ITV the money instead. Legally binding.
