maybe it was just me who never knew this and i wasted an evening picking this apart, but it turns out there is a (an expensive) logic to our (older, CC based) tax system. there is a very structured price per CC in various brackets from €0.20 to €0.50 :)

Are they essentially stickers? I know with the original caps, they wear so easily, mine are starting to wear away, friend washed his car so often the whole blue badge was worn off, right down to the yellow basecoat!

Well they are made of gel meant to be hard wearing enough I think more so than a normal sticker but I guess essentially that's what they are. Plenty lads on STOC use them.

Anyone watching crimecall and the two cars going to the same place, one 10km slower than the other, only 10 mins in it.

Sweet, very CRZ-esque, which is another car need to get around to actually buying at some stage

I did not go through with the deal on the RCZ today. I think I'm going to hold onto it, opinion is still very divided on what to do.

Nope...I'll let 166man explain the rationale behind bringing the 156, but the 166 never even entered the conversation except that it's the back up if the 156 suffers catastrophic failure between now and Saturday.

You're not the first to ask....everyone in the Italian car club of Ireland cant understand why we're not bringing the 166, but it has to be this 156.

Oh and in case you're wondering, the gtv will be going on a much longer trip come the end of summer :D

    Turbo gtv...there was a 2L turbo v6 in them.

Hope no one has to be out on the roads tonight, shocking weather in limerick. Hundreds of euros worth of damage could yet be done across the city.

I was out in there, rough times were had! a wall of rain was what greeted me on the way home, along with branches of varying sizes on the road

You Euro guys have such an easy time taking cars home.
Imagine driving across land to Japan or America.

What am I saying? I'd fycking love to drive overland all the way to Japan! :D
Obviously with a ferry at the end but...

From airside Ford in Dublin to Griffiths Motor Group in Castlebar. Around 3 hours. Car going at the speed limit was there 10mins before car going 10km below it. Only 7 mins in it on the way back. Car going at the speed limit was obviously impeded by slower moving traffic and could only overtake when safe. Goes to show that going faster doesn't always save as much time as one would think.

QV is right, the 166 never entered the equation. It's hard to explain really why I'm bringing the 156 but I'll give it a go.

This car was the first Alfa we ever had in the family, I grew up in that car from the age of 11 in 2002, I then got it in 2012. I'll never forget the day my mother showed me the key after I finished school. :)

It was a fully standard 1.6 156 really nothing special other than it was well cared for. In 2013 the engine decided it didn't like working anymore and blew up on me, I was gutted. Had numerous cars since I sold it but I always missed that car.

Chap I sold it too rebuilt the whole thing and sold it on. An opportunity arose to buy it back for me so I took it and have never looked back.

To summarise, this car has massive sentimental value to me, coupled with it genuinely being fantastic to drive. I'd love to do it justice by driving it to Italy. :)
