Time to change my car, I commute 450 miles every week.
I've driven a Mercedes 220 cdi at the weekend, and was very impressed.
So, now I'm thinking about a 320 BMW also.
Which is better? I like car that is easy to steer (audi A4 way too heavy), and that has pep for overtaking.
Also, what is cost of servicing and maintenance on these cars?

    Thanks all.

You'd have to tell us what specific year you are looking at.

I'd say have a test drive in the 3 Series for comparison. They are both rwd, the 3 would probably be more driver focused but the C Class would be more comfortable and still be nicer to drive than a fwd A4. The C Class would also be a fresher design that was only launched in 2008 whereas the 3 Series would have been around since 2005.

Is the Merc auto or manual? The manuals are not very well regarded compared to the autos. I had a 3 Series M Sport and it was a fabulous car but the C Class with an auto box and the AMG Sport spec would be a very nice package.
