A few years ago I signed up on Sinn Fein's website. It wasn't long before I was getting text messages with links to threads on Boards and other discussion sites. We were encouraged to push the official SF party policy in these discussions and were given a list of talking points and advice on how to steer a discussion in a particular direction. The phenomenon of the "Shinnerbot" is very real. A useful idiot who is incapable of independent thought and is only able to parrot carefully delivered script. I've stayed clear of SF ever since.

I think their posts were a (not very) thinly veiled dig at a poster using words from that posters name.

It's funny how the rabidly anti-SF constant-re-reg posters, are so well versed in online forum propaganda techniques, that they've even got the 'divert, attack, ridicule' description coined for it - the exact same tactic many such posters have themselves been using over the years, across many economic/political topics.

The narrative on such topics is well-controlled on Boards, has been for years, and it's not the SF posters who have control there...

This didn't happen or else it's a bogus website you signed upto as I know someone who happens to work in the IT end for Sinn Fein From years ago when I lived in dublin (also posts around the motor forum usually) and for rather obvious reasons (think troubles)....they take personal security details of its very seriously
