Amiibo on 3ds xl

    Hi my son has an Nintendo 3ds xl
    Yesterday we purchased an amiibo figure but he Dosent have the amiibo setting on his Nintendo?? Can this be downloaded?or what do we do in order to set it up?

    Do you know what version of the 3DS XL it is? Only the recently released New 3DS XL is compatible out of the box with Amiibo, the older model needs an add on that hasn't been released yet. Also only certain games will be compatible.

    Well it was only purchased in December

    The New 3DS was released in February, so it must be the older model.

    Unfortunately at the moment there's nothing you can do. The add on needed hasn't bee released yet.

    You would think the guy would have advised Us before he sold it to us 😡

    In the 9.6 update release notes (which added the amiibo settings to old 3DS models) Nintendo said the peripheral to allow the old 3DS to read amiibo's will be coming in 2015.

    Probably after e3.
