Better selection on amazon than ebay! From your link this one was also recommended: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aukey-Charger-Adapter-Smallest-Powerful-Black/dp/B00M6Q83B4/ref=pd_cp_ce_0

I need to have a look and see if I can some how route the cable around the dash although I don't mind it beside the cig lighter either.

I pulled the trigger on one of these yesterday. Ordered the tempered glass protector with it. any other "must have" items I should consider with it? Is a case necessary?
I never usually use a case except with my current phone which I never trusted because it's glass front back. I think I'd prefer the One without the case though?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,186 ✭✭✭✭Thargor

Mine looks brand new after 6 months without a case anyway and its had some loud cracks off the bathroom tiles and other horrible knocks, on the other hand some people have had the screen crack in their pockets so its personal preference really, I tend to look after my devices and I only work in an office.

If you do any sport or exercise an armband is essential imo, its too big for anything else like pockets/bike mounts:

Thats just the first result on ebay, there are loads of cheaper ones on there.

Lads I started a FAS course and I want to have my phone be on vibrate only during working hours. Is this a built in feature or will I need an app? Blooming thing went off this morning when the boss was speaking to us all!! Something to do with profiles or summat?

Right well it's "Profiles" that I was looking for. The thing is they're not working. I have the trigger of the course's wifi set for the phone to go on vibrate but it's not going on vibrate.

Anybody have any success with "Profiles"??

I don't think the profiles are great. Use tasker or something similar to put phone onto silent mode at particular times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,981 ✭✭✭irelandrover

I use the profiles a lot actually. Find they work very well.

The trigger of my home and work wifi work perfectly.
Also have NFC tags in the car to set it to car mode.

Warning to anyone looking to buy one soon.

16gb is going up by 30 euro and 64gb going up by 50 euro from march 25th, due to the current value of the euro vs the dollar.

    Hi folks
I am having a lot of trouble with reception recently. Whenever I go out of coverage, the phone goes to roaming, but when I do get back into an area where there is 3 coverage I have to manually register back onto 3Irl network.

I also noticed that I cannot get 4G in some areas but can in other areas.
For example I was talking with a friend last night and he had 4G coverage on a Samsung phone whereas I only had H+.

Could it be the phone or could it be the sim card please?

That's not a phone problem, it's an issue with the way the 3 network is configured. It's a well known and talked about problem which they largely ignore. Have a look on their"talk to..." forum, there are plenty of threads about it.

I had the issue on several phones, the only solution I found was to port to a different network. No problems since then.

It drove me mad with 3 on my last phone but the Oneplus seems to handle it fine, dropping to roaming on Vodafone out in the middle of nowhere, 3G and H in borderline areas and 4G again the minute I get a signal. Ive only had to switch Aeroplane mode on and off a handful of times and thats always been in the middle of nowhere down in Galway.

Have you set LTE as your preferred Network Type in Settings?

I wonder has everyone here complaining about battery done this:

Settings > Privacy > Privacy Guard > 3 dots in the top right > Show built in Apps > Long Press on Google Play services then change Allowed to Deny on the Wake Up and Keep Awake entries. Then Reboot.

Ive basically restored my battery performance to the way it was on 25R with the latest OTA update by doing that, standby lasts for days again and I wont bother reverting now.

    Anyone else tried this.
Since I have done this I am not getting my whatsapp notifications and infact whatsapp is chewing my battery.
Could just be whatsapp? it has been updated in the last few days too

    Gar

A week or two ago the whole internet was complaining about whatsapp draining their data and battery, it jumped from using a few MBs to GBs overnight after an update, I dont use it so I dont know if there was a fix. As I said, and the big thread on XDA agrees with me, there were no issues with that fix apart from stopping Google Play Services draining 25-30% of the battery in standby. Easily reversed if its causing issues anyway.

    Way too attached to iOS

    Just ordered my OPO.
Is it good to go straight out of the box or do I need to do anything that's worthwhile before setting it up?

If I leave was it is will I get updates OTA?
    Cheers

You're making a terrible decision, seriously.

Give the phone two weeks man. Change the themes as much as you like to find something that might keep you entertained.

The customizability of this phone is infinite in comparison to iOS.

Just think of it like this, if you can break that duck and get out of the world of iOS you will have a phone that is just as good for a fraction of the price.

1 hour and saying nope is pretty funny though.

Good luck either way. I know I'm glad I've gotten away from iOS.

Well if you want to unlock the bootloader and root etc... Unlock the bootloader first as it wipes the phone when you do it.

If you leave it as you will get updates OTA, but unlocking bootloader and rooting you can still install updates(I'm not sure if OTA, as I always update manually when the update comes around) That is the quickest way as sometimes you can be waiting a week or more OTA.

Netflix Rte player and snapchat sound were all out of sync with the picture.... I will more than likely return it during the 14 day returns

I've never had that happen, ever. Sounds a bit defeatist/excuses to just switch back to iOS.

did you try a different show movie on netflix?
rte player has been known to be out of sync too. have you tried opening it in a browser?

though after an hour if you were able to try all those, and set up the phone first go, I dont think you got the full android experience.

Finally got my OPO yesterday after waiting over 2 weeks, I had ordered it from Germany about 3 days before they started shipping here direct.

Initial impressions are very good - well built, thin and not as big or bulky as I was thought it might be (I'm upgrading from a Nexus 4). Seems to be pretty nippy moving from app to app.

Just waiting for a Diztronic case to arrive, I'll probably also get an Orzly tempered glass screen protector as well.

One niggle so far - has anyone experienced problems with a weak wifi signal - I am definitely down a bar at home compared to my trusty Nexus 4? I did a search as it has been an issue for some people since release, hopefully the next update to CM12 will fix this.

If you have Bluetooth turned on and are using 2.4GHz WiFi you'll most likely have a problem which is well known. Try turning off Bluetooth and see what the WiFi performance is like on the 2.4GHz band or leave Bluetooth on and switch to the 5GHz band if you have a dual band router.
