SOLD in capitals in the headline. If the damn thing is sold take the ad down! What do you aim to acheive by leaving it up like that

    Testing the waters.

    Not pushed on selling.

    Some serious power(usually a 1.9 tdi).

Selling the car for 1000 euro with no nct, but offers to sell it with an nct for 1500. Wtf?

It shows that less than E500 worth of work / parts is needed to get the car passed in the test.

Any description of exterior damage but no picture of it, similarly any praise for the great condition of the interior but no picture of it.

But that makes no sense. New owner only responsible for tax from the date he bought it.

60 miles to €10 euro petrol. What sort of f*cking arbitrary system of measurement is that?

"fully loaded" when it barely has leather seats and cruise control

    pictures of cars in water

"never drifted or raced" - it almost certainly was

"just needs €40 worth of things to pass nct" then why didnt you do it , anything under 100 notes to pass the nct should just be done, it can only help.

"in no rush to sell, just testing the waters" normally a line found in a dreamers price modified feltmobile, €8000 for a 98 audi a4 tdiddely-iii with cloth seats and 20" "RS8" rims

Didn't know that.thought you'd have to pay any outstanding tax?

Probably mentioned here already, but poor photos on an ad really gets to me..

Also, if the ad looks like its wrote by an over-excited 12 year old.. "L@@K" "NEW IN STOCK!!" "CLASS CAR!!!"
^ Basicaly any ad which has the caps lock turned on and an over use of the explination mark.

A few things which get me are
Someone listing all the extras and wont put down the mileage
Not listing a price, one of the first things i look for,
Will fly through an nct, if it will do the nct , the car will be worth a lot more.
Remapped, i have no problems with remapping but i would rather be the one to remap it .
car lowered 40mm - i come from a farming background, if it said car rasied by 40mm i would be more interested
Anything that is obviously a boy racer car, ill take a look out of interest but would definitely not be interested in buying.
A car with 10-20k kms with a full service history. on long life service intervals the car was never serviced so the history doesnt exist.
one careful lady owner, car probably had 3 not so careful lady owners,
Car needs a service, why would you sell a car needing a service or a clean, why would you buy a car that needs a service of clean, if they couldnt be bothered to clean or service a car they are selling they probably skipped other maintenance.
Any ad with no pictures, Why?
Any ad with bad punctuation , ingine, starten etc
The ads with car sold are annoying , i know they are saving the ad for another car but normally with the likes of donedeal i find after 3 or 4 days they are no more views , could be diffferent with cars though.

Picking up on saving the ad for another car, surely that won't work, ie, the ad will already be 2,3 maybe 4 weeks old, if you go replacing the car in the ad, the new ad will already be 4 weeks old, and won't be appearing at the top of the page. Therefore less people will see it, and those that do will think something's wrong with it that it hasn't sold.

Couldn't see any way that could be legally enforced. I can't possibly be made responsible for someone else's debt.
This is even a popular tax dodge. Dont pay tax on your car, "sell" it to your wife and back again. Tax gone!

"must go this week". Well then price it a grand less than the other cars you muppet!

or "first to see will buy" ffs

da feck you on about, once the logbook is signed the new owner is only paying tax from that date, just think about it, if it was otherwise our motor tax office wouldn't know who to chase for the unpaid tax, or when brought to court there be no proof to hang new owners for it, hence you change name on logbook and pay tax from that day, trust me, it works :D

I can't possibly be made responsible for someone else's debt.
If you buy a car with outstanding finance from the previous owner then the creditor can repossess it to clear the debt - so you kinda can. Maybe not responsible, but certainly screwed for it.

Though I don't think the same can be said for road tax.

Forgot about that one. I guess with outstanding debt the creditor has rights to the car, so while I can't be made to pay up someone else's debt, they can take that car away.
And yes, different with road tax.

    Feckin hell, calm down lads!

It wasn't always the way that the new owner only pays from when they buy the car. The govt. brought in some changes a few years ago to try and squeeze more money out of the ordinary man. Basically, if you had a car sitting in the garage at home that wasn't taxed, you either had to declare it off the road, or pay all the back tax owed on it. They announced this measure publicly only a day or 2 before it was being implemented. There were queues of thousands outside motor tax offices up and down the country, mostly it was people who had got away with not taxing their car for the past while, and now they were trying to say it had been garaged all that time, to avoid paying a nasty lump sum.

Now, whether it was just a rumour, or whether there was some possible truth in it, the belief was that this would apply to new owners too. Hence, if you didn't pay your tax for the last 2 years, there wouldn't be a hope of selling your car on again, as nobody would touch it. Either way, that's what was engrained in peoples minds, and that's why, to this day, people put "declared off road since..." or whatever, in their ads. As we can see from the posts above, there are still some people who are unclear about the whole situation, so having the paperwork in order can only be a good thing.

"NO TIMEWASTERS". So I take a day off work, lose that days pay, travel a considerable distance, pay for diesel and food, get to your car which you described as "mint" only to find its a ball of sh1te, and I'M the timewaster?

As a rule, I don't even bother with ads when I see that. Either you're interested in finding a buyer for your car, or you're not. Despite the fact that you think your car is as precious as one of your children, its not. Get over it.

It didn't take any new rule to put this idea in people's heads.
It's just that most people's basic "facts" of life and driving are handed down in the form of piseogs rather than real facts or common sense.

    1. Not pushed about selling, just testing the water

    2. Things like "E46 A4 TDI Type R VW Audi M3 GTI Golf" tagging an ad for a 00 Nissan Micra

    3. Lowered 40mm, 18" rims, induction kit, f, race steering wheel, straight pipe, sum lift outta 'er, one lady owner. And the best bit - never abused! lol

    Felt speccers.

No dreamers no timewasters no window shoppers!

"Never abused" mentioned in the same ad as "welded diff"

    Price: POA

TBH, I just set the filter between €500 and whatever I can afford, so I don't see your ad.

You're not selling a fcuking Ming vase!
