    Hi Kevin

I just caught your post as I don't normally follow that forum. No information I'm afraid just this tale, which I hope is useful. You might try searching on some of the cruise ship lines: P&O, Fred Olsen.

A mate of man (best man at my wedding) had long held a similar dream. When he lost his job he thought this was his chance to achieve it. He said the work was OK but he hated the living accomodation - he only ever went on the one voyage:

    • all the crew bunked in together
    • drug use amongst crew
    • petty crime amongst crew members
    • crew bunks below the waterline
    • watertight doors sealed during rough weather.

    Wish you well,

How you got into it, what skills and training do you need. What does your job entail?
