    Lightening strike twice?

Well, PSG beat Chelsea with 10 men for the vast majority of the game…. Anything is possible, that's what makes sport so addictive. You just never know what will actually happen!

Chelsea are out of the Champions League while we're still in it! :D

Watching Chelsea and United makes me even more glad Arsene is our manager

I think we should really go for it at Monaco after seeing the results from the last two days. We just need to press Monaco from the off and force errors and I think we could get the 3 away goals needed ( although I envisage we might need four as they will inevitably get one back).

If we were to perform what would be an unlikely comeback we could get the likes of PSG, Porto or Juve (if they get past Dortmund)in the Quarter, who I'd fancy our chances against.
Real, Bayern, Barcelona and Atheletic to avoid.
PSG will be without Ibrahimovich and Motta for the Quarter Final.

I think it would be worth trying Sanchez up front with Giroud, what do people think of that?
    Then Walcott on the flanks

Arsene aside from a moan at the sidelines, doesn't insult his fellow managers or speaks down to teams like Jose.

Jesus lads, I still hadn't stopped smiling from Monday.

We can't play as bad as the 1st leg, I imagine Monaco playing it safe and very defensively and breaking out. If we up our game we can get those three goals back but its defensively I worry for us.

Lads a serious point here...as it stands this year, no English team is going further than Arsenal in Europe, and we are the top non-sugar daddy club in the league.

I really, really don't think changing manager is a good idea.

This is a logic fallacy that many people fall into. Your rivals being a bit sh*te does not make you any better. It would be foolhardy to think so.

For a perfect example of this, look at Fergies last year at United when they won the league. They won the league with a sub standard squad, playing poorly and getting winning goals from RvP when they didn't deserve to win games. They weren't good enough to win a league that year but they did due to a freak occurrence of Chelsea, City and Arsenal all imploding in the league simultaneously.

This led some silly United fans to think all was well in the garden when it was obvious that serious, serious work was needed with their team.

Being knocked out in the last 16 and scraping top 4 again is no reason to celebrate for an Arsenal fan and Chelsea getting their comeuppance doesn't change that fact.

I'm delighted to see Chelsea out. An utterly contemptable club from top to bottom. Has any team ever overcome a deficit like we face in the CL knockouts before? I don't think so as far as I know. Despite all the logic, I think we can do it. It would be amazing and one of our great nights if so. Tactics will be so crucial obviously. Who knows how Monaco will approach the game, we will definitely score.. If this round had shown us anything so far it's that last going for it can reap rewards as it did for psg and nearly Schalke

The thing is i actually dont really mind Chelsea or Man City normally. Hated City with Mancini over them and absolutely hate that Mourinho.I like Pellegrini though. Seems like a classy guy. And Chelsea have won the few trophies since Billy big head returned under Rafa, Ancelloti (league and cup double), Di Matteo (CL and Cup) and Hiddink (Cup in 09). They were quite unlucky that season under Avram Grant too tbh where they got to two finals and lost the prem title on the last day of the season. He aint so special really.

As for overcoming deficits the last time it sticks out in memory was Deportivo beating Milan 4-0 back in 2004 after being 4-1 down from the first leg. We nearly done it against Milan in 2012 but other than that i cannot remember any game that sticks out in the mind although someone will point it out to me and the memories will start flooding back :)

Only team I can think of is Deportivo hockeying Milan after losing the first leg 3 or 4 nil, back when Depo had some good players.

Liverpool overcame a bigger deficit in half a champions league game, we can definitely do it with 90 minutes!

That's a crazy tie for Chelsea to lose in the circumstances. 11 v 10...at home and conceding after scoring. It was would be utter chaotic armageddon type meltdown if that happened us...mentally weak we'd be portrayed again and be bottlers. And rightly so!

I just dislike the innate conservatism that Mourinho instills in his teams. Costly tactics last night.

That was the same year Shelbourne drew with Deportivo 0-0 in Landsdowne

Olivier Giroud was injured August-December. So around 14 games missed.Costa only has 4 goals more than him in all comps. Make what you will.

Hector bellerin signing a new 4 year deal according to Arsenlog (l'equipe).

What an outstanding development this guy has had so far. Even though there is not much back up right now, nobody bats an eyelid when bellerin is first on the team sheet at the moment, he has really earned his place and I think Wenger will have a headache trying to decide whether to watch hector grow or let debuchy back in straight away.

Exciting times with some of the youth we currently have in our team ( bellerin ox Coquelin gnabry Martinez zelalem) and that's not including our fairly young established players in Ramsey Ozil szcezny and Sanchez. Exciting times ahead it feels like- crazy how a season can take shape!

On that note also- are arsenal starting to look like the only team who was happy with their transfer business (absolute hyperbole ha) but falcao, costa, di Maria, balotelli, lovren.. Lots of disappointed fans in the other threads at the moment - we seem relatively happy about our new boys!

Yeah I'm happy with our transfers that we have made this season so far. Obviously it's too early to judge Gabriel, it's a signing that we should have made last summer as we knew we would need proper central defender cover for this season. Delighted to see Coquelin playing so well and being that central midfielder that we badly needed. Hopefully he can keep it up long term.

Imo we are close to a complete squad, still think that to challenge for a league we probably need a world class striker to compete with/replace Giroud, not dissing Giroud btw. Although you can argue that we should get enough goals with Sanchez, Walcott, Welbeck etc. Depending on Coquelin form and that we could do with bringing in another midfielder to compete for that position or take over.

Then depending on how well Gabriel fits in we could be set at centre half with Kosc, Mert, Gab and Chambers there. Looking at our squad on paper it looks quite strong. Obviously getting top 3/4 and winning the cup is the aim for the rest of the season. Then next season with a signing or two and quite a bit of luck with injuries, we could look well set for the season ahead and try and push on.

    Arseblog today :

"And the other day Arsene Wenger said that Gabriel, who strained his hamstring against QPR, could be back in training this Sunday and may be available for Monaco. Now, I’m not suggesting that we’re injecting them with growth hormones and stem cells and spinning their blood like other clubs might possibly do but I’m not saying which ones but it’s the ones where the players are hardly ever injured and they have EPO orgies and stuff, but could it be possible that things are improving on the recovery front? I guess we’ll see."

    Hmmmm
