Chainring rattling and left shifter.

Sounds like the front dérailleur may need adjustment

So you've a triple (3 rings up front?). Small ring front and small ring back would be a no no (cross chaining).

You can adjust the front dérailleur so you can run small back and middle front without rubbing.

If it's an 11 speed 105 5800 double front chainset then the lever has 4 clicks resulting in 4 positions for the front dérailleur. Basically it's to allow an amount of cross chaining. It's a trim function and can be a ba$tard to adjust (for me anyway ).

Once you click the paddle 4 times it's at the lower stop with the chain on the inner ring. As you select higher gears on the cassette the chain will start to rub the front dérailleur. Shift the left lever to the first click. The front dérailleur will move slightly to stop the chain rub (but won't shift to the big ring). The next click of the lever will shift the chain to the big ring with the final click allowing the dérailleur to move out another bit avoiding chain rub as you shift to higher gears on the rear cassette while on the big ring. By then you'll be up to 60km/h and hopefully won't be able to hear a thing with the wind in your ears
