    NHL Division 2B:

    Kildare 3-20 Mayo 1-14

Bernard Deay with 2 goals, Johnny Byrne with the other. A trip to Letterkenny to face Donegal next Sunday is up next with the final due to be played on 4 April.

This team is flying at the moment. Great to see. It's a pity this couldn't have played a double header with the football tomorrow.

Thought it was suppose to be. Any reason why it was changed?

No idea. Might not have been a Kildare decision.

I have always believed the hurlers should be playing up in Clane for stand alone fixtures. They would draw a bigger crowd there.

    Two changes:

    Gary White for Hugh Lynch
    Tomas Connor for Podge Fogarty

    Tommy Moolick amongst the Subs

Absolute rubbish Second Half. D3 here we come and its deserved based on this performance

What a joke of a team and management. No leadership on the field or from the side lines.
Unfortunately we are stuck with Ryan till after the championship because the county board wouldn't have the ball's to send him back to Waterford.
This has to be one of the worst kildare teams in decade's.

Do us a favour Ryan and go home!!

My patience with the current state of affairs is gone **** sake no passion from the team..

    Sad day tbh...

From the glory of division 1 relegation to 2 and probably straight relegation to 3!!!! Disgraceful

    And Jason Ryan ffs

Final score for roscommon was a hurling scoreline... I can reluctantly take the bad beatings from Dublin as they truly are a class act but I can't watch the likes of today.

    Sorry for the rant...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

It must be one of the first times in over 130 years that the Kildare hurlers are performing at a higher level than our footballers. I don't know whether that says more about the strides our hurlers have made or how bad our footballers have gotten.

Hopefully the u21 team can put a bit of pride back into Kildare football on Wednesday night.

    Leinster MFL semi final:

    Kildare 1-16 Carlow 0-7

Kildare will play the Áth Cliath team in the final on Saturday having beaten the Dublin team during the group stage.

Division 1 Semi-Finalists, a two point loss to Tyrone that could have went either way and an U21 Title doesnt look too bad now.. is there any point in Ryan staying on until were knocked out of the championship? Surely its in the players minds too that they are playing for a man who wont be with us in 5 months time?

Ryan has to know he is ****ed at this stage. Hopefully he bows out gracefully.

What way is Glenn Ryan now contract wise?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

Glenn would not be very popular among a lot of the current footballers. He was approached post McGeeney but John McMahon went with Ryan instead to appease the players.

We haven't the finance to bring in an expensive managerial set up. County panel expenditure is a fraction of what it was four or five years ago.

The next managerial set up will have to work within the same constraints (our Croke Park loan of €100,000 per annum won't be paid off until 2018) so you can forget about the likes of Cian O'Neill, Jack O'Connor and also McStay. If the Mayo county board were baulked by the cost of his plans then he has no hope with cash strapped Kildare.

If Murphy was interested then I would like to see him given a chance. He would be popular with players and supporters alike, he would be very familiar with our underage structures and personnel, and the Kildare minor teams he managed were always competitive.

Under 21 team to play Meath:

    Colin Heeney
    Brian Byrne
    Darren Maguire
    Paul Mescal
    Ryan Houilhan
    Pascal Connell
    David Hyland
    Ryan Moore
    David Fitzpatrick
    Chris Fenner
    Mark Sherry
    Niall Kelly
    Neil Flynn
    Declan Flatherty
    Cein McMonagle

Tough game in store tonight. I'm surprised we're favourites for it. Meath have a lot of senior panelists on their team. We only have two.

Neil Flynn with a great goal at the start of the second half.

Meath not going away. Kildare by 4 with about fifteen minutes to go.

Fantastic result, and much needed after last Sunday.

Final is on Thursday, April 2nd, 7:30pm. Hopefully it'll be in Portlaoise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,101 ✭✭✭klairondavis

Good spread of scorers again tonight:

Neil Flynn (1-6, 4fs), Niall Kelly (0-4), Cein McMonagle (1-0), Chris Healy (0-2), Chris Fenner (0-2), David Fitzpatrick (0-1)

Chris Healy was dangerous particularly in the first half while Neil Flynn really grabbed hold of the game in the second half. Niall Kelly oozed class all the way through.

David Duke had a fine game and Brian Byrne did a good marking job on Eamon Wallace. Colin Heeney just like the Offaly game made a great stop from the impressive Meath centre forward at a crucial stage. It would have been a different second half had that chance gone in.

u21 final scheduled for Navan two weeks tonight. Pity it's not in Portlaoise.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 230 ✭✭homeofhurling

you wonder why they would bring kildare and Dublin to navan, wouldn't portlaoise be better view for both sides.

    Leinster Minor Football League result:

    Áth Cliath 2-10 Kildare 2-5

Áth Cliath were clearly the stronger of the two Dublin teams entered in the competition this year.

    NHL 2B:

    Donegal 3-11 Kildare 1-19

Kildare go through the round robin with a 100% record. I doubt they will be pleased with the match today but it might be no harm ahead of the league final. The first choice 15 should be back on the field for that.
