Has tv ruined antique hunting?

As the popularity of antique shows / picking shows - the likes of American Pickers / Storage Wars and even Bargain Hunt etc has increased.... this appears to have a negative effect on the availability and price of good mid-range antiques. Everyone now is an expert! What effects have you seen?

No real change in recent years and as far back as the BBC Antiques Roadshow (1979) your average member of the public (and many dealers) have equated old with valuable. The chances of finding a bargain have greatly diminished but if you specialize you can still get lucky.

Imagine these shows are well edited to filter out the dead ends and presumably large volumes of worthless items, else it would not make for good tv.

The public generally have an inflated view of the value of their old rubbish.
Donedeal/Adverts is like Comedy Central at times.
