From reading previous threads it seems that Miele is the best. Unfortunately that is not within the budget. Are the €200 machines any good?

Buy what you can afford and look for the longest parts and labour warranty you can get.

Try done deal , local second hand shop of something similar - the cheapish and newish washing machine that was in my house when I bought it packed up , and I was stuck for cash - so got a second hand 50 quid zanussi to tide me over - it's still going grand 6 years later -
