    Taking a more southerly track,coasting in near Brest,callsign KU8650.

FR is showing it as an A320 in error!

Not sure how to post a screenshot.....

    Is it this? http://www.flightradar24.com/B772/5a42d50

Nope, thats an Omni 777-200 going to shannon, Ireland. (American troops).

The plane in question should be in eastern France atm heading eastbound. EDIT: it's near Toulon.

The plane in question (the one falsely shown as an A320) is very high at 47,000ft.

    Falcon 900 N627CR over NI

Operated by Stein Aircraft Services for Light Speed Aviation, which is a subsidiary of Cree Lighting.

Interesting how their website has a button to switch to Chinese; with a market awareness like that I'm not surprised they can afford a Falcon.

C130's sound very similar, but the drone doesn't last as long.

I got back to Dublin about 11pm last night. OMG. Buffetted around is not the word.

Wings doing their thing up and down in the gusts. I really didn't think we'd get down. But obviously the winds had lessened (didn't seem like that to me!!), enough to get the bird down.

I would prefer a calm weather landing next time thanks.

Fair play to Madame Captain. RYR.

This drone went on for a good bit. Nothing on FR and low cloud prevented me determining what it was

So will any more be diverting?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 527 ✭✭✭de biz

Oh yes unfortunately...very much so EIN159 gone SNN,EIN60L to BFS....

Stupid question maybe, but instead of diverting can those planes not stay in hold pattern until the runway is swept?

Would it not take the same amount of time in the hold as it does to go to either Belfast or Shannon?

Just wondered if there is a protocol that's followed.

It reckon it depends on the amount of fuel they have and crew hours available. Landing below minimum fuel reserve is no no.

Thanks. I suppose the call the Captain makes depends on the certainty of the runway re opening within the minimum fuel reserve times.

They need to have enough fuel to divert, make 1 or 2 approaches incase WX is also bad at new destination and land, if they are near minimum fuel it'll eat too much into their alternate fuel if they have to do a go-around, they most likely have to declare fuel emergency then.
