It actually, I think, come from ursus meaning bear. I don't know why anyone would call a child Ursula.

Heard a child being called Jeremy earlier. Grand if it was 1960 but its not.

    Jerry? Pretty normal name.

Have a look at the top baby names in 1960, nothing odd there.

Some of the kids on my school had hideous names. There was a Queenie, a Rupa, and an Omolara.

My wife's due a baby in may and I came into this thread for inspiration for the babies name. One man's something or other is another man's something something something and low a behold you've proved my point with your post.
My son's name is Jeremy, never thought there was anything offensive about it.

I heard a fella call his son "Tom" the other day! I think we can all agree the poor boy should be taken into care.

As are Concepta and Asumpta or however you spell them.

Not mad on Christine myself, it somehow sounds trampier that Christina in my eyes

Always associated those names with Nuns.Every second one seemed to be called Sister Assumpta.

This name is so good the boys parents used it for his forename as well as it being his surname..

Never been a fan of Amy (any spelling variants), Rebeccah (same) or Hannah.

Boys - George except in George Best, Jack (always think Jack Sprat which sounds like Jack is a prat to me anyway), Patrick, Adam.

Forest - Person >> I'm going for a rest - Boy called Forest- "...To the shops, can I get a Twix?" :pacman:

All time worst... Stacy for a male...

I've come across many Thomasina's with a younger brother Thomas :-(

I'll never understand how people give their kiddies similiar names Josephine & Joseph
I know a Luke and Lucy. Frankly it annoys the hell out of me
Or why run a letter-theme among their kids?

In my family we're all C—— (well one K, but all with C sound)

My sister's twin boys are F—— and F——.

I went to school with three E——'s, all brothers.

I wonder why parents do this.
