I'm watching the 1999 RWC here...

    NZ skittle Australia for 151...

    ...and are now 146-9

No nerves. But I'm used to that sinking feeling!

That's up there with the best cricket matches I've ever seen, if not the best. It had everything.

The shame if we'd lost though. Now that would have been a choke...

On a side note, looked like a pretty amazing atmosphere at Eden Park.

Looked incredible, it's an amazing stadium.

With 13 to win and 5 wickets in hand to go to 6 need with 1 left was crazy.

McCullum, Boult and Starc. Any one of them would've been a worthy man of the match.

The main villain was Vettori. Just needed to poke it round for singles, it's not like run-rate was an issue, instead he holes out to mid-on.

You probably know that Kiwis despise the Aussie cricket team with a passion, so victory is always sweet!

(I saw one tweet, referring to that last over "where is Trevor Chappell when u need him?". You've probably heard of the underarm game, which still gets brought up every year)

In the Aussie innings Vettori started the rot with that dismissal of Watson from a terrible shot. Coming on as a spinner at that stage the way Australia's top 3 had started was brave. But as you say no need to do what he did batting.

Haha thats it really, at the end of the day as nice as it is to win in style, a win is a win and all that was needed to top the group (assuming Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be no bother.)

Yep...she's off out, kids are in bed, dog could be dead (hasn't moved from the fire in about an hour) and i've a few bottles of craft beer in the fridge.

Documentary on before hand about him. The guy he's fighting is a scumbag. Says at the pre fight conference that Frampton was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

He's obviously never been to Tigers Bay!!

Yea the silver spoon thing was hilarious. Hope Frampton knocks his ballix in.

England's tournament on the cusp of being over this evening. An indifferent opening 15 overs leaving them on 79/2.

Eoin Morgan must be looking forward to the next WC where he might play for a country who win the odd game at the tournament.

Terrible entrance music by Avalos. Phil Collins and the Cadbury Gorilla song.

It's amazing how cricket has changed, mainly due to 20/20. 15 years ago, and 79/2 runs from 15 overs was very respectable. Nowadays in general, 300 runs seems to be a minmum requirement from the 50 overs.

I only follow it sporadically but I thought the 300 totals were pretty hefty. Even 5 years ago I don't recall totals hitting those levels. England only on course to hit about 250 if they don't lose wickets.

Speaking of 20/20, just looking at some of the salaries. Eoin Morgan in line for €215k for his 6 weeks which will be his 5th IPL season. At 28 the lad must be well set for life already when you factor in his contracts for England and Middlesex.

Haha he's about the only cricketer on the circuit who it wouldn't suprise me if something like that was true.

Pretty loose fight here. Unless they start boxing more conservatively, there's an early enough knock out for someone here.
