Extremely good package so that is if that's the case

Actually no I re-read it again and it says this is a live-in position for which there is a salary adjustment. I wonder how much they take off the salary for living there and getting free meals.
£23,000 - £24,000 per annum, this is a live-in position (for which there is a salary adjustment) with meals provided.

Ooooooh nothing nicer than decent new rubber on a car :D

    It's a nice feeling alright :)

Also when I was in there a lad came in with a punctured tyred same 15 inch alloy as mine so it was probably of a golf. Now the tyre was a continental with literally at absolute best 1.6mm on it it was done to the marker. He got the tyre plugged

people are just unreal when it comes to tyres I was the only one in the place buying decent tyres everyone else was "what's the cheapest you have". I could have got tyres for mine for 55 a corner but they were chinese crap.

Every time I hear those stories about tyres I cringe.... Why are people so stingy when it comes to the 4 rubbers connecting with the road :(

That's the thing that I noticed. 24k after tax for driving someone around is decent if your meals and accom are included.
24k before tax without meals and accom for driving someone around is craps.
Especially when you consider who you're driving around.
I'd have thought the royal family would have been paying their chauffeur a lot more.

You can be sure the figure quoted is pre tax.

24k sterling is a decent wage for an unskilled role.

Again, I suspect that job will go to someone previously employed by the UK government.

The thing that strikes me - is that for the likes of the Royal Family - youd think they would want people with IMPECCABLE abilities and an impeccable work history and record

Good driving experience - especially as a Chauffeur would be important I would have thought.

Can't help but wonder if a QUALITY candidate that youd actually WANT if your the Royal Family - might make more then 24 k working as a self employed Chauffeur - as youd imagine the sort of person suitable for the role would be someone who would have no problem getting work.

    Am I thinking wrong????

I woulda thought all drivers for the royals would be secret service agents.

I don't know about secret agents - but youd imagine security is VITAL with anything to do with the Royals - and that youd need to be of IMPECCABLE character to even be shortlisted.

Pay seems poor enough even allowing for the live in nature of the position - and in fact that in itself would mean a sacrifice for potential candidates - been away from family/relocating

Speaking of tyres, here's why I need to get new ones, which have been delayed :(

Still better grip than a Chinese tyre :pac:

All things considered I guess it's someone well down the pecking order. :D

Being a chauffeur in the royal household wouldn't necessarily mean you'd ever drive a royal around - you could be bringing functionaries around or repositioning corgis from one palace/castle/house to another.

I went onto oponeo just to see how much cheaper the tyres are there as I know it's mentioned a lot on here where people use it to save money I know it's more for unusual sizes but still had a look same tyres as I got 60 quid a corner I paid 69 euro so I think I done alright considering they swapped the front to the rear tyres and put the good tyre that was on the back onto a rim for me as my mothers spare tyre was only just legal and one of the tyres I took off had 6mm left on it so I gave her that for her spare.

So considering all that labour it's hard to see how these tyre places make money at all.

For some more reference, I'm paying €180 a corner for Hankook Ventus from the local place including tracking, fitting, balancing etc, Oponeo have them for €146 a corner but t o be honest I'd probably spend the difference getting the same done once they'd be delivered.

Tis in the limerick leader too. Great entertainment to be had reading the court cases in that paper. Until you realise the defendant is only living round the corner...

Leaky injector maybe. That could explain a lot

Injectors seem fine :( I'm worried now

Quick question, lads.. The bulbs behind your instrument gauge (speedo, etc.) are they difficult to replace?

The Focus (mk1) has the centre bulb missing, but it makes no real difference, as everything is still clear enough. I think there are three bulbs, one on the left (rev gauge), right (speedo) and in the centre for better general illumination.

But the one on the left is gone now, too, meaning it's more difficult to accurately read the speed, and I can barely make out my revs at all (at night, at day it's fine, obviously).

Should I be bracing myself for a pricy fix? :o

Depends on the car, you can take some instrument clusters out with no hassle, some need the dash taken out, hal1 would be able to tell you for sure id say!

I love the arguments used by the local solicitors. Dressing scumbags up as good decent people, a bit like Jimmy McGill
