I really don't see why that would matter. Loads of Irish people have the surname Maxwell

If she wants to identify as British then good luck to her, but suggesting that a person with a surname that isn't traditionally Irish, couldn't possibly be Irish is ridiculous in this day and age.

I don't know what's worse.. that mindset or the one that needs to claim people as one of their own.

I think the vs model is British, but the guy who models beards for SF and is usually talking about the "sit u ation" is Irish even if his name sounds English(I think but could be wrong)

Yeh Adams, Hume, Attwood... I've a friend from the North whose surname is Campbell - first name an Irish one, he's from a nationalist background.

Not saying this girl can't be British (it boils down to what a person from Northern Ireland considers themselves in my opinion - some of them consider themselves both Irish and British) but the surname reasoning isn't watertight.

Haha that's true about Hume and Adams.
Oh yeh I know she considers herself British, just saying that a person from Northern Ireland with a British "sounding" surname is not necessarily from the unionist tradition.
