as long as we get a good price for some of the players mentioned I dont mind,I always felt we sold players at cheap price to teams

The group of players we have playing a proper system would beat that Liverpool team fairly easily, lots of mediocre players there, sadly if we continue to play the same way they'll beat us and get top 4

Van Gaal needs to get his shít together starting this weekend or we'll be in the Europa next season and most likely not able to get first choice targets in the summer
Don't actually agree there - Liverpool have a few overrated and dodgy players especially at the back but overall they have a strong team.. In all honesty a few mediocre players at United too.

I remember reading Keane's book where he said about 5 times Liverpool was even when they were not anywhere close to United in terms of quality one of if not the hardest games of the year. If we are not at the races at Anfield they will give us a hiding - they almost always raise their game for us.

Every team raises their game against us.

Leicester would love to beat teams in the top half of the table 5-3 every time, but that's not going to happen.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra
I'm raptured by the joy of it all

I think we shold treat the Liverpool game as an away European match, they will want/need to win and catch them on the break

You lot are looking down at the likes of Southampton, Pool or Spurs..

Time for some optimism I reckon.. I'm looking up, only 8 points behind City :)

    Anyone else? Anyone.... :(

I'm there with you. Might as well be positive! I still think third is a good possibility.

I'm sure many won't like what I'm about to say but my opinion is that its very hard for fans to be positive and fully behind a manager when the football is not that entertaining. United have been one of the most entertaining teams to watch for a long, long time now.

I'm not a United fan in any way but I always watched as many of their games as I could because you were guaranteed to see great football on show. Now when I look at the fixtures on a Saturday and Sunday I am just hoping the United game is a 3.00pm kickoff so I have the choice to watch some other team play because the football is not attractive to watch for me anyways.

United took a bit of a risk when they hired Alex Ferguson. Despite the fact that he had won a European trophy he had only managed in Scotland and nobody was too sure about him. I think they have to go looking again and be willing to take a risk. The fans will be a lot more patient than many think if the football is entertaining.

Even if you qualify for the ECL the football will remain dour under LVG, its just his way.

What do you fans want? Win and forget the style of football or be entertained and in with a shout of winning?

For me its not a question of entertainment versus effectiveness. If LVG had implemented a style of football that was regimented, disciplined, dour but effective then I would have less issues.

Our performances aren't dour but effective, they are simply poor. Riddled with mistakes, players out of position and utterly confused about what they are supposed to be doing, a total lack of anything resembling focus, whatever the style is supposed to be the fact is that performances have been dire all season.

Said it before, any manager who could get that squad organised and playing with even a modicum of cohesiveness would be comfortably top three at this minute in time, the players are there to achieve that.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Chico go back to Mexico or even the MLS. It's a pity it's gone that way :(

no team in Mexico or the MLS will pay 10m for hernandez. Could see him going to someone like Valencia, Tottenham or Inter Milan

Tottenham not playing this weekend, City playing Liverpool and I think City will beat them, Southampton away to West Brom, I think Tony Pulis's team will beat them as well, topped off with our 5-0 win over sunderland, going to be a great weekend for us.

Telegraph saying Rafael, Hernandez, Evans and Lindegaard all likely to be sold while we maintain a strong interest in Clyne.

Ogden in obvious stuff presented as insider knowledge shocker

Without even looking, is it him? He was posting some stuff last night that was SO obvious but worded it like Woodward had passed him a piece of paper on the QT.

Never seen such a quick change in quality and credibility as with him and Jackson.

Your results though over the last 15 or so games do not back that up. in fact they say that your are exactly that dour but effective.

If you want to believe that then go ahead.

Our results did not reflect the state of our performances, and anybody who is happy at how things are going simply because of that stat about not losing in 19 games is really just fooling themselves. If things continue as they are we will probably miss out on Europe again, we'll judge then how "effective" we have been.

I think he meant while we have been putting in performances that haven't been worthy of winning, we have been winning, thus being effective.

If we had won those matches by a million goals we still would have got 3 points.

No one here has ever said our performances has been consistently good.

In the least games lost, United are 3rd best.
Of the current top 7 we have most draws with 8.

Drawing too many games is the real problem United have.

Draws are terrible imo, I literally see no benefit to them other then allowing people maintain stances like "unbeaten in 10" rather then " 10 out of 10 wins".

That nine draws returns the same value as six losses and three wins sums it up for me. Draws are a false dawn. I've always looked at draws as losses personally. It's points dropped whatever way you look at it.

As someone else mentioned, the holding on to "unbeaten in 19" and "unbeaten in 19 is champions material" was clutching at a severely dwindling pack of straws. The Swansea loss was coming, no doubt about it.

And more are on the way if things don't shape up quickly. Draws are literally no use to us going forward. You can argue that draws are "decent" against teams like Chelsea and City, but it's muck against the rest, including rivals and those below us.

Pet hate of mine, wish the 1 point for a draw would be done away with.

What would you replace it with ?

MSL in the US did away with draws in the 70s and it lead to some pretty farcical activities like halfway line penalties

    Agree with all of that.

Would be nice if it was 3 points or nothing, as in a capital one cup style game where there has to be a winner on the day. Like in the NBA where its win or lose.

Rvp the only player unavailable for tomorrow's game.

what happens after 90mins then extra time of it being 0-0 or 1-1 or whatever, penalties?

Nothing. It ends at 90 minutes - nobody gets any points.

Ah lads come on, what do people want? Stoke and West Ham kicking lumps out of teams for 90 minutes before winning a crossbar challenge to claim three points?

I can only imagine how ridiculously negative the game would get if there were tiebreakers instead of draws.

No points for a draw is a ridiculous idea.

Van Gaal says if you watch us this season we are mostly the better team, mental if he actually believes that

Only a handful of times could you say we were clearly the better team

The @ManUtd twitter account has asked fans to predict tomorrow's starting 11.

Its almost like they're trolling us.
