A very good mate of mine got married in Oz recently, Sydney to be exact. I couldn't make the wedding but would still like to send down a gift of sorts.

Anyone had experience of this and possibly have some suggestions or should I just stick a cheque in the post!!!???

    Thanks in advance.

You can get a bank draft in Aussie dollars, which might be an idea. The down side to sending an item as opposed to a cheque/cash is that shipping could cost an arm and a leg, depending on what it is!

Do you know what you want to get them? Most Australian department stores offer free/discounted shipping.

David Jones or Myer are the Clerys and Debenhams equivalent. Or have a look at Westfield website. They would also ship gift vouchers as well.

You could also do something kind of different like a voucher for a really special meal somewhere nice

A friend of mine bought one for her cousin (also in Sydney) for a restaurant that I think is either in or near Sydney Opera House?? Meant to be pretty swanky anyway and they were delighted with it-went there for their one year anniversary to celebrate
