Can you take a pic of that wall plate, and its quite possible the cables at back of wall plate are loose as well, you could try unscrewing wall plate.

It depends how handy you are and how much you know about that sky box. Under settings you should be able to access the signal meter and see what levels you are getting on both inputs, then with meter still omscreen you could go round back and wiggle the lead that has bad signal and see if it improves. And you could swop cables.

It seems you are not getting a good feed from the wall socket. You can also remove wall plate and use joiners to connect cables. What about the guy who fitted lnb he should have examianed wall plate.

Until you get signal on both feeds I would not bother with software updates.

Can you look at bottom of box and see what is the exact model no. and make?

    http://skyepginfo.co.uk/HowToGuides/Skybox-Update.php

Look at this link for software updates BUT read carefully as there are 2 methods one for old boxes and one for the new, hence the need for knowing your make of box.

The person who gave me a hand with it, had a look at the cables again from the wall plate as there are a few spare cables there, tried out one of them for a charge as the other one must be dead & tried out the corresponding cable & it worked thankfully.

I don't know what name they're called apart from joiners along with RF connectors, but i told my brother to get 3 joiners in the hardware shop.

He came back with 3 'sets' ->
3x RF Conn, 3 Joiners & what suspiciously looked like another set of 3x RF conn, as my brother is a builder & he would'nt have known, but was told they're sold like this ;)

Told this to my friend, & thought the hardware shop are bein fly as they're the same connectors :D But needed the joiners as wanted to tack them up instead of having both cables taped together.
