I think its because he's speaking slowly in order to be understood by foreign folks. Its the exact voice some fellas from Clondalkin used to use to order when I worked in Domino's.

If he didn't exist, Joe.ie would have to invent him.

Never heard of him. Has he been in anything I've seen? Eastenders maybe?

Strong dub accent, asked to soften it down for non Irish viewers, hence the slower dub accent with slight American twang.
It's a business and its working.

Business.. I know him well, we go back probably ten years ~ and IRL his accent sounds just like any other working class Dub.

He's actually a very decent bloke, don't let the show business sh*t fool you, he's just playing the game very well.

    Really?

Some of his cadence and inflection don't sound typical to me - there's almost a kind of stylised staccato to his speech that seems deliberate (to my ears anyhoo). The Dub accent is certainly in there, but the pattern of speech is almost akin to how a fluent non-anglophone would deliver English.

If you check out one of his interviews well before he was being interviewed in the US regularly he has a pretty full-on Dub accent. I'd imagine CMcG, as the self-promoter he is, knows well that he has to tone down his accent when being interviewed for a wider audience than Dubland.

There's a big difference between CMcG the man and CMcG the brand.

Not interested in MMA, how good he is as a fighter and at the show is side of things all be it he has to be doing something right on both fronts... Whenever I see him or hear him on TV it's just total cringe time... That accent wtf ?

Great fighter but I wouldn't pretend he is not a bit of an idiot.

I think we are even going a bit far calling him a "great fighter" ironically if I were going to define a great modern day fighter it would be his next opponent, Jose Aldo.
