Macaroon bars are definitely still on sale. They taste like bad margarine, mind you, so I wouldn't be rushing out to find them!

    What were united bars???

Common theme in this thread seems to be not only how stuff has disappeared, but how stuff that's still available tastes nothing whatsoever like the original. Seems there was a lot to be said for salt/sugar/chemicals, which have become seriously un-PC these days :D

Does anyone remember sweets called Asteroids out in the mid nineties at some point?

Also used to love hot lips, klipso bars and jolly ranchers

Or maybe as you get older, so do your poor worn-out taste buds.

    Possibly :(

Smoking won't have helped either, I still remember my first taste of Tatyo crisps a good while after giving them (cigs) up - I thought my tongue would fall out with the sharpness of the taste, the auld buds having been dulled by about 20 years of the evil fags

We used to have competitions to see who could make one last the longest! We were such saddos! Also my sister and I were only talking the other day about cadburys dream bars. We fooking loved them! Also loads of the cheapo sticky bars like lanky larrys. And mr long ice pops and supertwisters!

It's very difficult to find good ham in Ireland. When I was home for Christmas my mother brought home this supposedly 'finest' or 'specially selected' ham from one of the supermarkets. It was luridly pink and shiny. I hesitantly put a slice of it on a slice of my Mother's delicious brown bread. The ham was horrific. Inedible. Coming from a packet I should have known it would be like that. Freshly sliced ham from the local butcher was marginally better after I went into town to buy some. Wouldn't hold a candle to the delicious hams and cured meats available here in Germany.

Cool guy who moved to another country alert.

Ive had nice Irish ham, I think Germany is mad overrated for meat.
