    why didnt u upgrade to 1.26 B9

    Hi all.

    I'm also on 1.26 B7 and I'm also experiencing the lost channels. Luckily I have a back-up.

I upgraded to 1.26 B9 and did a blind scan. This picked up a lot of my channels but it also missed quite a few as well - I used Eurobird. CBeebies, for instance, is one that is missing and this is a dealbreaker for the primary user :(

I can export my channel list from 1.26 B7. Is it then possible for me to somehow
    1. read the exported B7 data (on a pc) to determine the channel details (e.g. for CBeebies)
    2. manully add a channel onto the 250 box by specifying the CBeebies channel details

Any advice/help would be much appreciated.

In general the 250 box is great but these recent "channel losing" issues are a pain. Also, the fact that channel lists do not seem to be compatible over firmware versions is frustrating - surely at this stage we should expect new firmware to be able to decouple the channel details from the system details!

do the blind scan on eurobird instead of astra 2

A single transponder scan or even a network scan should pick up any missing channels.

I'll try that Tony. It will be the weekend (for the remainder of this week I'm just going to restore the 1.26 B7 setup after each loss) and I'll let you know how I get on.

Do you have the bigger universal remote ? If so try pressing the STB button.

make sure your box isnt overheating, best to turn on and off the box every day or so anyway

Yeah, our remote stops working every so often. I assumed that someone was hitting one of the buttons when picking it up and setting it to something other than STB, but it sounds like there might be others with a similar problem.

That's good to hear. The remote app still works which is handy but still not great

What firmware version are you using guys?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 260 ✭✭handofdog

If you have your box connected to a network that supports wifi then the "Ariva STBRemote" app is very good - it allows you to control your STB box using your phone. Your phone connects to the wifi and then your STB box should appear in the list of controlable devices.

I have only used the Android version and I'm very happy with it - I can't comment on the iPhone version but it would be worth a go.

One of the best things about the app is that it uses network connectivity to control the box - i.e. it doesn't need "line of sight".

That said, I've never had any trouble with the remote that came with our box.

That's a recent firmware. Had you different firmware on it and had you the same problem?

I'm running a 250 myself and set up several for others and I've not come across this problem. In fact, one of the good things about the ariva boxes in general is that the remotes are sensitive - you don't need to be leaning forward to the box to get them to work.

What firmware have you running? This was on the box when I got it so haven't looked at others.

I think it's currently 1.26B7 I am using. Not near the box so can't check. Before that I was using 1.21B1 again without problems. I have a habit of not updating firmware unless necessary.

If your box came with the 1.26B9 firmware it must be almost new?
If it is, surely there's a warranty?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,353 ✭✭✭✭Tony

Maybe not quite so new as the 250 was replaced by the 252 quite some time ago but a good dealer should still sort it out if there is a fault with the box . Usually though any issues with remote sensors do not fix themselves , I think the same can be said for the remote control units. The last remote control issue I saw was actually caused by direct sunlight in the room so its worth checking if there is any correlation. If it happens at night obviously there is something else going on.

Yea, you're correct Tony. I meant new to him and presumably bought from a dealer so still in warranty. I have been using 252's for well over a year. But I still see 250's for sale by dealers presumably updated to the more recent firmware.

Ah sorry , misunderstood what you meant.

Thanks lads. I will rollback to a previous version and see how I get on.

Will a channel list load on a previous firmware version?

There's a relatively recent patched firmware with full channel list here if you want to chance using it.

If you want to use the standard firmware, you'll get it from the Ferguson site. You're probably best to rescan the satellite channels, though personally, I have never had any trouble re-embedding the channel list. There's instructions on how to do this a few pages back.

Thanks Tony. The Network scan gave much better results - the missing children's channels have been restored. Much appreciated - cheers.

I have restored to that version, thanks for that. Now I find I can't live pause, anyone else have that problem?

Go to the media player menu and in the PVR sttings set the timeshift to on. See if that solves it.

Time shift was turned off, so sorted now, just need to figure out why it won't read my external hard drive now

All sorted now, reformatted USB and working fine again, hopefully this is the end of the freezing box
