Oh dear, it seems like I have opened "that" can of worms when I posted my pic of 50 Shades of Grey
I think most people would agree that Ford were responsible for making the "modern tractor".
However, I wouldn't have a Ford around the place, nor a John Deere either.
Give me an old Massey or International any day.
The real test is the fact that most farms in Ireland still have a MF 20, 35, 35x, 135, 165, 168, 188 etc running and on the button. Same cannot be said for Ford, John Deere or IH ;)

Don't worry Base, people just need reminding about the Gospel according to Deere. Me? I'm looking forward to their 200 year celebrations......

I remember a story that my eldest brother told me years ago. Don't know if it is true or not.
Apparently during the Depression in the US, John Deere supplied tractors FOC to farmers on the understanding that the farmers would pay for them in full when the depression was over.

They're probably still paying for the parts to repair them;-)

Paid tribute to the famous landrover ad where it supposedly winched itself up a dam.

Richard Hammond did it for real with a few mods

I always said a lot of lures are designed to attract fishermen as much as fish!

Couple of lakes very close to you there fishing well at the moment.

    No worries Reggie.
Between my sons and I, we could open a shop with all the tackle that we have.

Oh I know plenty of hot spots but I let other things get in the way over the years.

Mainly pike and tench fishing. Spent weeks at it over the summer months when I was younger

I think it was more they didn't repo the machines when farmers couldn't keep the payments made. Apparently it is supposed to be a big factor even today in jd dominance in large parts of the US.

“The gross and net result of it is that people who spent most of their natural lives riding iron bicycles over the rocky roadsteads of this parish get their personalities mixed up with the personalities of their bicycle as a result of the interchanging of the atoms of each of them and you would be surprised at the number of people in these parts who are nearly half people and half bicycles...when a man lets things go so far that he is more than half a bicycle, you will not see him so much because he spends a lot of his time leaning with one elbow on walls or standing propped by one foot at kerbstones.”

From Myles Nagcopaleen, the third policeman. I think this is why farmers are so committed to a tractor brand. I've spent countless days hopping and bouncing over rough ground that now I think I am half Ford tractor.:D

Well done to the Ireland beat the West Indies in the cricket world cup. I know it only one-day international and maybe not as big a shock as a few years ago but it still nearly like them beating us in hurling.
Think next up is United Arab Emirates. As Miheal O'Muirheaigth (sp) might say 'neither of them cricket strongholds'

Never had trips here, and never want them either. Only end up fostering or making a pet out of one of them I imagine.

Don't know have I terrible luck or what , one of them got sat on , one of them got smothered in cleaning and one died last night , I don't know why !
The old lad rang there to say they still haven't sucked her but they are very lively compared to the rest , I'll probably go out and try get them to latch on
