    Hi,
This is somthing I might be interested in. Just a few questions first.

What is the registered name of the company in charge of the record label? How many staff are there? Does the owner/CEO have much experience in running a record label as this would be important as far as gaining experience.

What sort of hours are envisaged and what is the pay?

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your interest.

    Q1:
The company name has not being registered yet, because a record label name has not been selected yet. Of course there are candidate names, but that decision will form part of a broader exercise to define the identity of the label. E.g. visually from a branding / logo / colour / style perspective. Hence the reference to 'playing a role in the birth of a record label'. The founder already has an accountant, who has set up companies for him in the past. And that accountant is ready to establish this company once the instruction is given.

    Q2:
There are currently no other direct staff apart from the founder. Hence this advertisement... However the founder has already establised numerous contacts (nationally + internationally) who can be used as network of partners to work with, in the course of launching and operating the label. Also, based on the applications so far for this role, there may be a case for multiple interns/assistants to be involved at a given time. Forming a start-up team, in a way.

    Q3:
See the Work Times section of the role description.

    Q4:
As mentioned in the title of the ad, this is a start-up. And in start-ups: cash flow is often barely a trickle. If there is any at all... At least in the early days.

In this case there there is no revenue being generated yet, since the business is still at conceptual stage. Therefore, the business case for paid-staff is a stretch. Hence the emphasis on non-monetary benefits for successful applicant(s) in the role description - which are genuine benefits. See the Whats In It For You? section. That is also why the the role advertised here is positioned at a junior level, with the focus on the applicants accumulating work experience, in an intern capacity.

All that said, it does not rule out the possibility of (modest) paid-for work in some situations. But that would only be considered after a trial period, where an intern has proven their value to the business. And the business case is stronger.

I hope that answers your questions sufficiently?

If you cant be bothered to do this yourself - and it really isnt a lot of work - then maybe you don't need a record label of your own yet.

Were these similar companies to this one, and if so, why do you think this one will fair better?

I ask as it seems the entire ad is looking for someone to research and do the work for you, and as such the intern may not learn much that they do not already know.

^ Mate, seriously, look at all the stuff he wants you to do *for no money* and then realise that none of it is really difficult, you might as well do it all yourself and for yourself and then end up owning a record label of your own.
