If Ronaldo was to cost £100m but his goals guaranteed 3 PL trophies in a row and attracted other top stars to play for us, would you pay it?

This is a no brainer for me

Men who watch their favourite sports team compete experience a similar testosterone surge to the players, say researchers at the University of Utah. They found that a fan’s testosterone levels increased by 20% when his team won but fell 20% when they lost. So avoid watching England games and you should be fine.

Fun fact of the day :D

I'm sure everyone would sign Ronaldo for 100 mil if that was the case but unfortunetly we cant know before hand. Crazy money alright for a 30 year old but crazy money coming into the premiership these days so who knows.

Sure we'd make it back in shirt sales :pac:

As much as I'd love to see Ronaldo back he is 30 now and 100 million could be possibly better spent strengthing the squad in other positions.

Of course that's the case but going by the specific nature of the question and a guarantee of 3 titles then it would be really stupid not to do it

100% yes. 33 million a season for a title is cheap these days

Louis has admitted that he doesn't know his best team or formation. That's worrying as he's at the club 7 months now! Surely a top manager should have this nailed down within the first 3 months?

Poor old LVG. Doesn't he know that the British and Irish media are not used to managers actually explaining themselves and giving clear answers to certain questions asked. Rational explanations are for everybody else.

In the drama that is English premier league, if you don't Storm out, not answer ,lie or attack the person asking the question, it is perceived as being weak.

I think this is a very misguided view. LVG took over a club that finished 7th. It's not like he walked into a Madrid or bayern team that just finished 2nd or third.

The club is clearly in turmoil since SAF left and it's not a simply case of "he had 150mil to spend so we should be seeing improvements". The results are far better then the performances but isn't that more important at this stage?

Jose spent the first year back at Chelsea just solidifying their position and planning for the next season. They didn't fair any better nor were they an improvement on the previous season when he joined. Nodody made anything about that because Chelsea , like city , are clubs used to changing managers regularly.

Would you swap Shaw, Mata and Fellaini for him?

Well if you put it like that. :D

I do think the money would be better invested in buying some defenders and dare I say another midfielder.

The three titles hypothetical question is a loaded question. I mean who's going to turn down 3 titles for 100 million?

Wouldn't mind seeing a midfield 2 of Herrera and Fellaini on Monday. I'd be interested to see if that would work.

Those stats for the last 15 games makes our first 3 games even more galling. That should have been minimum 7, if not 9 points on the board. Leaving signings to that late in the window can never happen again.

Imagine if we had 6 or 7 more points now? We'd be looking at top 4 guaranteed And maybe have an eye on the title :pac:

If LvG can have United playing this poorly and be in third place then we'll win the league when the philosophy clicks. Either that, or the premier league really is baaaaaaad.

LVG is not just rebuilding from last season,he's sorting out the ills of the season before and a squad that was aging with some very mediocre players in it.

It was a miracle Fergie won the league with that team. LVG to fulfill the aim of getting CL football then pushing on next season and allowing the team to express themselves.

If Moyes said he didn't know his best 11 after 7 months it would be rabblerabblerabble against him. LvG says it and its the media. I'm not trying to imply Moyes was as good/better but why do we seem to use certain things as a stick to beat one manager while the sa,e thing can be used to reinforce another's position?

Maybe I'm not thinking straight due to all the Valentines day masturbation but that seems fair retarded to me.

The Ronaldo scenario is a complete fantasy but...

    £100m for Ronaldo.

If United sold each CR7 jersey for, we'll say £/€60, they'd need to sell around 1,666,667 jerseys to make it back. That number seems extremely attainable. I'd definitely buy one so really it's only 1,666,666.

    /fantasy.

    Exactly.

Just look at how many players he had to offload at the start of the season and add to that the players already lost in defence since SAF retired. How many of SAF starting league winning team regularly plays now? How many rival teams have made as many changes?

People cannot compare us to any other club near the top because none of them have had to go through such an overhaul of squad and coaches over the last 2 years.

LVG is hardly going to come out and say that the squad he inherited was a pile of sh*t.

If we get a top four spot this season I think it's been progress.

I won't be as forgiving this time next season if the team is still playing this way after another busy transfer window. But I do think this season was all about stopping the rot. Getting into champions league is achieving that.

Expecting us to play free flowing football while doing that is understandable but not really that important for me. . Scholes is a superb player and one of my favourite of all time but he's now a pundit. He's not a coach or manager so he's speaking from an inexperienced point of view. How many top clubs has he managed? People presume that because somebody is a good player it automatically makes them good at factoring in all parameters of being a manager.

Surely it doesn't take a prolonged period of time to 'get' tactics?

There is an old joke...and it reminds me of LVGs Team formations.

    Joke:
    What goes....
Click, click, click, is that it?
    No
Click, click, click, is that it now?
    No
Click, click, click, what about now?

Ex Utd youth player Josh King has scored a hat trick for Blackburn against Stoke. Well taken goals too.
