I think that would be a bit much.

The whole looking after one of your own mentality so.

I know he played there but he hasn't been part of the club since 2002 (I had to look it up).

I can see the current squad of players raising their game to beat Man United and get into the next round of the cup, but not to defend Moyes' honour.

very often he was isolated but with no other choice than to hold on to it.

This was very apparent to me while at the game, and not just for Adnan. Di Maria and McNair had similar situations

I hate playing lower teams. They always tend to make a huge occasion of it and will always try harder to beat man United and make history, especially a team like Preston to avenge moyes.

They will be fired up for it and will try make history, it's 11 v 11 just to simplify it.

we gave them becks though so its all square :p

With Wayne Rooney in midfield, and two strikers that mimic each other's playstyles, anything is possible.

Play Herrera in midfield, and Rooney just off Falcao, and we'll absolutely bend Preston over.

...and many teams in the P.L. too.

First it was 3 at the back, now it's Rooney in midfield. What shall we blame if we move Rooney up front and still play poorly :P

From the rivers to the sea, pair Rooney with Van Persie

Ronaldo had the pace, but he didn't have the strength.

It comes with work and more work. Bale has gone through an incredible transformation at Madrid physically.

Ronaldo was not what he is now, he was a whippet. He put in serious work to make himself faster and stronger. Januzaj can do the same, potentially weill. Hope he has the aptitude and mentality to do it.

It certainly sounds like he is willing to put in the hard graph.

    http://www.goal.com/en-india/news/137/england/2014/05/09/4806163/ronaldo-my-role-model-for-manchester-united-success-januzaj

I reckon poor Januzaj hasnt been the same since the Nandos debacle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

I think Januzaj has been pretty decent recently and has improved with each game. It's standard stuff with young lads to need games and even a player like Sterling, who is further along in his development, has peaks and troughs.

This wouldn't even be a conversation if even two of our megastars remembered that they were megastars and hit a bit of form. A young player, especially in a wide position, can be carried through poor form in a team in form.

El confidential who are close to Real Madrid going with Perez is open to selling Ronaldo in the summer.
Seen as last chance to cash him in.
This comes after Ronaldo went ahead with his birthday party after the 4-0 loss to Atletico.
    Have to wait and see...

Lads how is this possible? The hyperbole and over-dramatics around here can torture me, but still most of them are built on a fundamental fact - we are shíte. And it is within those last 15 games (well the last 7-8) where our shíteness is most evident.

This time last season we were losing/drawing a lot of games, and many of us mentioned that at least in the old days, when we were bad we still won games/picked up points.

Guess we're sorta back in that position now according to the above fact. Still though, it'd be nice to see some decent football to compliment the points won. Yeah, for me points and victories are far more important than the manner in which they were won, but not being bored to tears watching Man United would be welcome every once in a while also.

Had you offered me any odds i wouldn't have bet he played with Butt and Neville Jr. Seems to be a player from another era in my eyes.

Looking at the video what stands out is the pace we played at, dictated by the ginger ninja, plus the quality of delivery, even from a gauche 17 yr old. We've massive ground to make up which is kinda depressing, esp. having spent more money in two seasons that ive ever seen or thought possible.

Madrid would be crazy to sell Ronaldo, no matter how old he is. Sure what are they going to do with the money? Who are they going to buy to replace him? You don't "cash in" on your prized asset. You keep it.

I refuse to get excited bout Ronaldo, since it depends on Real wanting rid of him, and him not getting better offers from clubs in better positions.

BUT I do think Real are crazy enough to consider it for the right money. As amazing as he is, €100m for a 30 year old might be too good for them to turn down....

If we had a choice €100 million bale or Ronaldo?

Ronaldo would cost more than £100 million.

No he won't. Not at 30 years old. I refuse anyone would pay that kind of money for a 30 year old.

I haven't seen much hyperbole, other than the few "spoofer" types in here

Scholes got it spot on, looking at the playing style the obsession with possession is killing us, it's completely sterile, pass, pass to the wing, cross and repeat. Throw in an opposition counter attack to rip apart our defence and you have how we've been playing all season.

532 was a problem because it was encouraging the above, then we got rid of it but now we have Rooney in midfield who can't link an attack, he either plays it safe or out wide, Cleverley could do that

I worry we'll drop out of the top 4 and won't know how to get back in, we've got the most points in the league from the last 15 but I honestly can't pick out any of those games and say we were good

Ugh. Em....head says Bale (age so better long term value), heart says Ronaldo (better player right now, and the whole past connection). Couldn't possibly choose. Both would be nice :P

    Meanwhile.

So no Carrick, Blind or RVP for Preston. Of course to LVG that means Felliani and Rooney in midfiled, Falcao and Wilson up top and Herrera on the bench....

We seem to suck the life out of any quality player these days, Ronaldo is better off staying clear.

Blind should be ok to play Monday. LVG said as much today http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2015/Feb/Louis-van-Gaal-waits-on-Phil-Jones-and-Daley-Blind-Manchester-United-FA-Cup-Preston.aspx

RVP being out could be a blessing in disguise. LVG might actually have to play Rooney up top, or at the very least not in midfield!

    Unless he plays Wilson.

300m to upgrade the stadium but plans have now been shelved to do that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,134 ✭✭✭✭Rayne Wooney

If we are to continue the way we're playing there are far more suitable ways we could line up than we are now that would at least give us more joy out wide and pace

    .........Carrick Herrera........
    Di Maria.....Mata...Young
    .................Rooney.............

If Ronaldo was to cost £100m but his goals guaranteed 3 PL trophies in a row and attracted other top stars to play for us, would you pay it?

No I wouldn't, but definitely would be pissed if they club didn't with that return promised.
