I've had a bet on Ballycasey @ 4/1 in Ascot Chase tomorrow. Way I see it is, while clearly talented, Ptit Zig beat a poor chaser in Josses Hill and a 3miler in Champagne West, who if he was going to beat Mullins Gitane De Berlais lto it would have been a struggle. I adore Balder Success but, again, not sure his form, beaten by Special Tiara and beating a handicapper in Hunt Ball is strong enough. Not sure if he's a proper stayer suited by tomorrow's test either. Ballycasey while clearly a non stayer over 3m, has an impressive record over tomorrow's trip, travels well enough to go with Balder and may be the stronger stayer over this trip. Nicholls horse could prove me wrong but buoyed by GDB's win, I think Mullins has his measure and the more experienced Ballycasey will hopefully justify my Ryanair play on him.

Just going to throw a little curve ball here for tomorrow,Rajhdani express, if SWC can get him settled there's a good animal in there, i think he's in the 16/1 bracket,he probably has the best form(career wise) and i'll have a better look at the race this evening before deciding to have a punt or not.

Ballycaseys Irish form over 2m4/5 is clearly the strongest IMO

Day 1 of PP Cheltenham Special: Douvan (Supreme), Faugheen(Champ Hurdle) and Sprinter Sacre(Queen Champ Chase) all to win 25/1.. If the hype about Douvan is to be believed, Faugheen is expected to win albeit in a very competitive race, it would be a nice docket to have going into day 2 of the festival, effectively having 25/1 on a 11/4 favourite (I know Sprinter Sacre has his problems). Not sure I fancy it but somebody here might. Also have the option of laying Sprinter Sacre too if the other 2 horses win. Max stake 25euro

Any idea why balthazar king isn't entered in the cross country or the grand national??

The biggest player on the markets dave nevison says"my opinion is sprinter sacre will be 7/1 or 8/1 on the day if(big if) he runs"."anyone backing him without nrnb deserve what they get but they are playing with shocking odds based by bookmakers to infract/compact % return on a non betting market"

If Sprinter Sacre turns up with 3 legs he won't be as big as 8/1.

I put this up as a point from a top top player for people to understand what I already said "shocking run last time based on the best horse I have ever seen over 2 miles".

why on earth would he think that he would be that price. Might get pushed out to 4s on the morning but will go off about 2s if he runs.

What price do your other mates JP Mc Manus, Harry Findlay and Mark Winstanley say he will be

The horse didn't jump fluently and Geraghty took it easy on him. He was out to blow off the cobwebs for Cheltenham.

I would like to know where this top top player is getting this idea from that he will go off so big. Why would he nearly treble in price if he turns up on the day. He is more likely to go off odds on than 8/1.

I was at a meeting wed night and what I heard would open your ears in a serious way.these people will never say anything at "drink 2k turn up nights".nevison is adament about same.there is serious intention about a very young horse that got no race at leopardstown (wow in my opinion) which I do not agree with but bookies have run scared.

Sprinter Sacre wont have to be anywhere near his best to win the Champion Chase, you would expect him to improve a few lbs for his first run in near 2 years and that will be enough imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,786 ✭✭✭redzerdrog

If he runs he will certainly be nowhere near 8/1 despite what some big player allegedly says and I didn't even need to go to a meeting to form that opinion

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,205 ✭✭✭Gringo180

Can anybody see the ever improving Johns Spirit taking a big hand in the Ryanair? I must say I fancy him big time, has come on leaps and bounds this year. Last time I checked he was 12/1.

Think Mullins said they were keeping their options open. Can't see her going there myself. Mares hurdle, easy grade 1.

anyone know if Abyssial is a likely runner in the word hurdle? Standout bet for me tomorrow and am considering a bet at 50s for the World Hurdle.
Always felt he could be very good. Considering he's relatively unexposed and the way he won from the front at punchestown, he looks worth a punt at the prices.
Can't seem to find any mention of the plans for him though and no 50s available nrnb so if anyone can enlighten me I'd appreciate it.

guys, can we please quit the petty bickering. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I would ask everyone to back up their points properly and keep things civil. This is a final warning - infractions and/or bans will result.

I can never understand this line of thought. Everyone with any interest in the game knows the Mares Hurdle is roughly a Grade 3 contest in all reality. So going around saying, she won 10 grade 1's - and let's say 5 of em were Mares Hurdle wins - who exactly are you impressing?

If even the most casual National Hunt follower like myself values a World Hurdle or 2 over 4 or 5 Mares Hurdles.

The only thing to be said for the latter is the longevity of a horse to be able to win ANY Cheltenham race for a few years on the trot. But don't be insulting our intelligence with '10 Grade 1's' crap.

Annie Power is only being aimed at the Mares hurdle this year because of her interrupted season. You'd have to imagine that the World Hurdle would have been her target had she not got injured. IMO Willie Mullins is 100% right if he chooses the easier Mares hurdle for her... this year!!

    Stings greatist hits.

Now that Dave Nevison is mentioned I remember reading an article about him and he mentioned trusting eyes and ears etc, something we've seen here plenty of times. Is sting just recycling/stealing his opinions I wonder...

Why was my message deleted..I will ask again, a genuine question..what was the young horse called? Was it Vercingetorix?

You seem to say this every Saturday morning yet it always kicks off because of the same person. I thought aftertiming was not allowed how can he keep going on about boasting about prices yet never show any proof.

    It stops now.

Any more cr@p and there'll be infractions and bans.

Another reminder to all posters: report you've a problem with rather than posting on thread.
