Hierarchy of Victims is a phrase that was just born to be enunciated in a squeaky, nasal Belfast accent.

There is already a momement to her in the grounds of Dublin Castle and her name is also added to the Freedom Forum Journalists Memorial.

I think naming a bridge at the location of her murder would be both unneeded and crass.

Her family are ok with it. What's the harm?

It's a kind of bollocks answer. It's saying that you can't honour someone who was killed by a criminal because other people were killed by criminals. As tragic as every life lost is I doubt most of the others were journalists who had dedicated their lives to unearthing the illegal activities of criminals.

What's the real reason they want to stop it? Did the IRA take care of a number of journalists in the north?

Sometimes they deserve to be bashed. They aren't above criticism in everyone's eyes.

I would have no objection to it being named after her, but I can see where the objection is coming from.

Before long we could have friends and relations of every 'innocent' victim looking to have something named after them.

Gerry Adams recently made a 'joke' about holding at gunpoint the editor of the Sindo, the same paper that Veronica Guerin worked for.
So we know the calibre of people we are dealing with it here. A party that has a complete lack of moral compass from its leader.

There aren't enough bridges in the country to name all Sinn Feins victims.

    Shinnerbots and blueshirts, ASSEMBLE!

In terms of the actualy topic instead of my polictical party daddy can bet up yours, I see no real reason to name it after someone or to be against it, if people want to do it then go for it, Im sure theres plenty of other things that can be named after people if they want.

Ah in fairness for this they deserve it, along with the abstaining in the fatal fetal abnormalities bill...turning out to be as bad as FF and FG and they haven't gotten any power yet.

I don't see why it shouldn't be named after her, and I'm no SF lover, but I find the way the paper is using her name in this article a wee bit distasteful.

Well he did say it. I'd take any threat from a man like Adams with absolute seriousness.

How about you give an opinion on the actual topic of the thread, rather than racing to defend insults that haven't been made or chasing phantom Islamophobes?

Course, they've only put down arms over a decade ago and what better way to carry out a sly hit than announce it at a dinner.

Considering the service she rendered the country and the price she paid for it, it would be appropriate I feel.

He made a joke about holding a gun to the head of the editor of Ireland's biggest selling newspaper. This is the leader of a party who aspire to being in government. We need to shine a very bright torch into the darkened corners of SF. No other party leader in Europe would make such a joke at their own party fundraiser. It's disgraceful.

Yes, obviously paid government shills doing all the bashing in a futile attempt to discredit the Great Leader.

If any other party leader had made it, it would have been in bad taste.

When you have a history of being involved in murder, it doesn't even approach being funny.

They should name the bridge after poor, oppressed Sinn Fein.
