Do they do offers like this regularly? Crazy deal. Missed out.

    Hey guys,

I booked this for me, my wife and baby ( 1 year and half). I booked a seat for the baby as it doesn't make sense to pay the infant fee of 20 EUR per way, but I intend to hold the baby and keep the bought seat empty.

Do you think that I'll have issues with Ryanair regarding this?

My payment wouldn't go through putting card details in correctly or via PayPal, but when I went back and signed into ryanair (instead of just continue without registering), they had my card details saved from previously and it worked ok with that

    I knew I wouldn't be so lucky! :(

Got as far as the error screen when trying to book them and then that was that. Would have been a nice little valentines treat for herself.

They won't let you do that unfortunately. You have to pay the infant fee even if it's cheaper to buy the infant a seat

Thanks OP! Missed out on the cheap fares by dithering over dates with my other half . Managed to get a flight from 8-11 April for €71 each. Not the cheapest I've ever had but it will do! Going to take the train to Ystad and stay there.

Did it happen to you before?

If it's the case than it doesn't really make much sense!

It was a great deal for anyone who got it. I live 45 minutes away from Copenhagen airport and it costs me €22 in tolls each way just to drive there!

I can see these flights being full of empty seats when people change their minds about travelling after the initial enthusiasm about the cheap flights.

My sister flies regularly with her baby and until they are two they've to pay the infant rate even if their own flights are cheaper.

Actually I just checked their site and it states
Can I book a separate seat for my child under 2 years old?

Yes, but only when using an Amsafe CARES child restraint or a car seat which is approved for use on an aircraft with a 5 point harness.

    Amsafe CARES child restraint
This restraint is designed specifically for airlineuse for children age 1 year and older who weigh between 22 and 44 pounds (10-20kg). The restraint must be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions (weight, height, installation). Click here for more information. If you have purchased a seat for your infant (aged 12-23 months and are using the Amsafe CARES child restraint) theyare entitled to a free 10kg cabin bag allowance plus a small second bag and have the option to purchase a checked bag.

    Airline approved car seat
You can bring a car seat onboard for use by an infant or child as long as it is approved for aircraft use and has a 5 point harness.

2 pieces of infant equipment are carried free of charge (per infant/child) - a pushchair plus one of the following: car seat, booster seat or travelcot).

    Forward facing

Fit in the 42.5 cm (16.8 inches) space between the armrests of an aircraft seat.
Certified for use onboard aircraft as follows:

European car seat– the seat must have a CE sticker and "Certified for use on aircraft" printed on it.

U.S.car seat– the seat must have a FAA sticker and "Certified for use on aircraft” printed on it.

Customers who have purchased a separate seat for their infant who are using the Amsafe CARES child restraint or an airline approved car seat are entitled to a free 10kg cabin bag allowance plus a small second bag and have the option to purchase a checked bag.

Please note: if you are booking a separate seat for an infant who will be using an Amsafe CARES child restraint or an airline approved car seat onboard will need to contact our call centre to make the booking for all passengers, add the car seat details and allocate a suitable seat onboard. Website discounts will be offered for this booking.

If an Amsafe CARES child restraint or an airline approved car seat is being used onboard for a child over 2 then the flight booking for all passengers can be made on our website, but you will need to contact us to add the restraint/car seat details and to allocate a suitable seat onboard.

    Infant Comfort Seat (Extra Seat)

An extra seat can be purchased for an infant (8 days – 23 months) for comfort, the infant must be seated on an adult’s lap (aged 16 years and over) for take-off, landing and whenever the seatbelt sign is illuminated. Once the seatbelt sign has been switched off the infant (8 days – 23 months) can then occupy the extra seat.

A baby bag up to 5kg can be carried by the accompanying adult in addition to their own cabin bag allowance in addition to their own cabin bag allowance.

However, there is no cabin or checked baggage allowance associated with the extra seat.

Please note: if you are booking an extra comfort seat for an infant you will need to contact our call centre to make the booking and allocate a suitable seat onboard. Website discounts will be offered for this booking.

So it seems that a child aged between 1 and 2 can use a seat if they use a carseat. And a child aged 0 - 12 months can also travel on a seat but the fact that it's described as "an extra comfort seat" makes me think the infant fee is paid plus the extra seat.

Best thing to do is call their customer service and check

Origally got Fri 20 - Mon 23 March for €1.22 for 2 of us, but booked my wife in as her married name, which isn't on her passport !! Somewhat redeemed myself by picking up another ticket for her for €36.

Free apartment + bikes over there (my cousin) = happy days :D
