Your wasting your time ,this poster will never listen to any argument in favour of a yes vote .

Yeah I'll listen, but I don't entertain fools or appreciate insults.

I think it's dreary how uniform they have become and I would say the exact same if it was 100% no.

Will you only accept a 50/50 split vote?

I referred to the parenting of biological children, by their biological parents, as a crucial and core aspect of the environment envisaged by marriage.

With regards to adoption, I stated that the closer we can get to replicating this environment, the better.

So the core element for you that needs to be replicated is a man and a woman, rather than two loving parents?

It really isn't a personal thing, it's been tossed around for a long time before I came on the scene.

Yeah thats the thing. Easy for students to vote when they're walking through campus and theres stalls everywhere with big signs up saying ' come and vote!':pac: Hopefully most make the effort.

Was in today and didn't see any. Didn't even know it was on. Safe to say there's a dedicated minority voting, the vast majority of UCD students are from rural Ireland* and I know few of them who openly support it. It's also an intimidating atmosphere to have opposing views because everyone wants to fit in and most young people put their social life/standing ahead of their political/religious beliefs.

*I could be wrong about the figures but it's just my perception.

As has been said many times since the beginning of this referendum, don't underestimate the silent majority.

This is a discussion forum, I'm asking you if you believe that having a man and a woman is more important than having two loving parents? We're all just here debating our personal views; I'll stand over mine but I'd like to see you actually stand over yours?

    How will this be worded?

Couples who are married or cohabiting or in civil partnerships will be eligible to apply to adopt jointly.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    Why progressive voting is uniform.

His point was fairly self-explanatory. He doesn't like that students have become homogeneous in their views. I can assure you that's not the case though. People who differ from the pack in college don't get involved in its politics at all so their views aren't represented in the voting figures.

I don't get your hypothetical scenario - can you elaborate?

I have no difficulty offering an opinion so long as it's not fed back upside down.

Who cares ? despite page after page of discussion you have yet to offer any reasoning on a no vote . And calling you out on that is not an insult .

You are not open to change , why waste more time .

I have no difficulty offering an opinion so long as it's not fed back upside down.

    So try it:

In your opinion is it preferable to seek heterosexual parents for adoption rather than seeking loving parents regardless of gender? In seeking to replicate the ideal biological scenario do you apply primary weighting to gender or parental ability & love?

So that's a no for the explanation so? I'm not asking why near a 100% vote is uniform, I'm asking how progressive voting on matters such as this are.

We were discussing Joeys divided loyalties to core LGBT issues such as SSM, unfortunately, he bowed out.

It's not this thread though and completely irrelevant to what we're discussing.
