Theres a pub in Scotland that has no road to it and the only way in and out is either a 18 mile hike over the mountains or the once a day ferry.

Yep,got to agree, this one takes some getting too.

theres a great one on the Beara peninsula near kilmackillogue

    here:

Was cycling around Beara and it was like a feckin oasis after only 30km cycle from kenmare :)

Highly recommend, looking over Kenmare Bay in the summer with a cool pint, can't beat it.

Saw loads of people walking passed in full scuba gear so if you're into that it would be perfect, think it's b&b too.

Top of Coom is fairly remote. Also the highest pub in the country. Re-opened now having burned down.

Many years ago I was out in Sherkin Island for a 3 day science trip from college. The only pub was the Jolly Roger. Glorious weather and we walked from the hostel at one side of the island to and from the pub at the other side; one route. The pub didn't close until very, very late and on the way back many of my class mates were sleeping in various spots along the route. Others just slept on the grass outside the hostel.

There was hardly anyone else on the island except drunken science students. Very surreal but hilariously brilliant time. Great memories.

The Jolly roger was closed down when I was there back in August. The only pub on the Island then was Islander's rest, also a B&B type jobby.

Such a great spot. Travelled a chunk of west cork during the summer, bike in tow. Was delighted I didn't go abroad.

One out on Coney Island off sligo too which you can drive to when the tide is out :)

Thanks for that update. Haven't made it back to Sherkin in a few years; seem to get as far as Baltimore, grab a pint and then watch the world sailing by.

I moved to West Cork 9 years ago and honestly, with summers like last year, it is just one of the most beautiful places to be. It's not as touristed as many parts of Kerry so traffic is never an issue. Nice relaxed pace, love it.

I could sit in Baltimore all day supping pints of murphys. A beautiful part of the world to live.

I stopped by Glandore too and threatened to buy a pub/restaurant that was for sale there :)

Poor Glandore. 10 years ago and it was impossible on any summer weekend afternoon to get a spot in front of any of the pubs; just packed and a glorious suntrap. It's like a ghost town now, pub and hotel have closed. It has one of the finest views in Ireland when having a pint.

I had my wedding photos just around the corner on the right-hand side of your picture; beyond the bridge over to Union Hall.

There's no sheebeen on Inisturk, it's a comunity centre with a bar (or vice versa!) that has ithe best view from a pub that I've ever seen

    http://aleriasadventures.blogspot.ie/2014/05/a-weekend-on-inishturk.html

There's also the pub in Carratigue on the North Mayo coast

Michael wards on coney island in Sligo deserves a mention. The barman is the islands only remaining permanent resident.

Not the most remote because you can drive to it at low tide.

The only pub where I've rang the barman to ask him to open for me!

Although its on the main Derry to Belfast road, the ponderosa bar at the top of the glenshane pass is pretty remote.

When we were in college, our entire year was marooned on Inis Meain for 3 weeks to improve our Irish. There was one pub there and a mini disco. It was great craic, we all squashed into the pub every night. That has to be very remote, of its only accessible on a long ferry trip.

    My favorite pub
Cans of draught and packs of tayto while you wait on the tide

This one room pub near the townland of Marshalstown north of Enniscorthy. It doesn't sound remote but **** me, not a house to be seen for miles but the place would be rammed, don't know where everyone came from.

This one! Next pint New York...

It's actually not a pub but an old farm house that was painted up for a Guinness ad a few years back. Its on Valentia Island, Co Kerry

    Fairly remote all the same.

Closed. As far as I know

Sherkin has multiple pubs so doesn't count, was on sherkin recently

Cape clear has 1 pub and a shop that is also a pub and 1 closed pub, then the rest of the Islands in that area have no pub at all
