Dossiers!...it's all very Benitez-esque. As us Liverpool fans know, the very moment Rafa produced his dossier the league was lost and Ferguson had Rafa, just like Keegan before him, just where he wanted.

West Ham to finish above United, you've heard it here first.

Carragher on twitter defending LVG. tldr: He did what was needed to get an equalizer.

We've all seen the 'genius' Jose stick Terry up front when chasing a game,so what if we do it now and again-it's not something new.

Excatly,SAF used stick Bruce or Pallister up front

Media just catching this story and running away with it,

Also Big Sam complaining that RVP should have been punished for that challenge on Tomkins, noting wrong with a good old fashioned battle between a CF and a CB for the ball, even if there was a sneaky look by RVP :)

The stats weren't handed out "for the lolz", nor are they about 18th Century football (or maybe they are).

This is a manager who has allowed the press to get under his skin, and reacted to that.

He shouldn't be reacting like that, as manager of United.

the media hasn't handed out weird pamphlets to a press room.

And no, fans have 0 power, the TV men have the power, and it doesn't matter a shíte if you cancel your subscription, there are millions of others who won't.

The most recent deal, to be announced this afternoon, proves that.

Asbi said above ye didn't loose his cool he was calm and controlled and it was aimed at big sam and not the press.

Baldy. I really do think you're over analysing it. I haven't seen the video, only that gif.

It dosent look like he has thrown his toys out of his pram like some make it out to be. It just looks like he was responding to Sam in the same facetious way

Going long ball with Fellaini was the right choice, like it or not, it got results.

In the long balls played in a season table?

It's true, Big Sam now has Van Gaal exactly where he wants him. Nothing will stop the Hammers steaming ahead to Premier League glory now.

Carragher seemingly defending him but something tells me he is secretly laughing his ass off at the current state of United's performances

No, he said he knew Sam was being tongue-in-cheek but that the stories in the press about United being long-ball needed to be addressed. This is how he chose to do it.

Just because toys weren't thrown, or a meltdown had, doesn't mean the behaviour isn't eccentric or unbecoming of a United manager.

It is very, very strange to allow such a small thing to upset him so much that he feels the need to come armed with pamphlets to hand out to the press room.

Can people at least admit to that much?
Going long ball with Fellaini was the right choice, like it or not, it got results.

Don't care how he plays tbh, pleasing fans is not his remit, results are.

    Well, no.

What i found most amusing were Rafa's facts weren't facts. He was ranting.

I still find LVG's stats cringey, but they are right. I similarly don't like how he has us playing in general, but the long ball myth that has grown over last few weeks in the media should be addressed. Maybe not by LVG in the manner he has done so - but by someone else in the media doing a full analysis of the passing style and looking at it qualatively, but that was never going to happen.

As I say, it IS embarrassing, but I personally think it is levels below Rafa.

Didn't Liverpool do a power point presentation under Dalglish regarding penalties or something a few seasons ago? its more like that, imo.

Far from the right place to talk about this, but the above is in 'fact' not what all Liverpool fans think.

On to the current topic du jour, I think it's an over reaction from van Gaal, and highly unnecessary.

    Funny though, all the same.

Would've been easier and more sensible to ignore Allardyce's comments.

Now we have the "LVG is rattled/fachts moment" narrative in full swing.

Can't ignore the possibility that that's exactly what he wanted. Management 101, take the focus off the pitch when performances aren't meeting expectations.

I don't see why he should have to. And it isn't just Big sam saying it.

Strikes me a manager has responded to criticsm, and used a handout to do it, which isn't that surprising also remembering his English isn't great. And rather than go "oh, maybe it's not that bad", journalists realise more papers will sell using terms like "meltdown", and some people who have the knives out will use it to justify their point of view in the usual hyperbolic manner.

A manager should have every right to respond to over the top criticism and it's not that there is much else to talk about anyway.

Well, no - the actual results during that league season and points gap trend demonstrate that not to be the case.

I thought Magico was being sarcastic. Surely at this stage everybody agrees that Rafa's rant was fun but not important.

I did get great enjoyment out of how he was using stats to form his narrative. Was a very good use of statistics.

    Bravo!

Watching the video actually enjoy his little cheeky smile as he is passing them out. Made me re-watch the "only one player injured, can you BELIEVE IT?"

Poor Moysie, can't get anyone to have a post match tipple with him

Have to say while it didn't work out for him at United as a man how he has handled everything since shows just how ****ing class he actually is.

He should be bitter. But he's not. Frankly he has impressed me.

I can't say I've seen many of his posts so lack a bit of context, but I didn't pick it up that way. Could be though. Not particularly of importance anyhow.

And I don't really think today has any importance either. Utd fans should be ignoring any attempts by football journalists (a cretinous bunch to say the least) to attach psychological significance to the event.
