    100% correct

LVG arrived to the presser with a pre-prepared pamphlet, one for everyone in the audience, pointing out how United aren't "Long Ball".

It's weird and funny, and on a par with, or in fact, worse than, the time when Rafa Benitez produced a handwritten list of "fachts".

Bizarre behaviour, that some people are getting silly about defending or saying he was somehow right to carry on like that.

It's the same weirdness and "the club I support can do no wrong, not it's manager, players or fans" attitude that is so prevalent around here.

It is a stupid thing to do, and shows the club in a downright bad light. He shouldn't be allowing this kind of thing to get under his skin.

Lets call a spade a spade here. Rafa had a meltdown with the Fahcts.. This is no where near. This isn't even the same planet as that. This is very mild.

    Of course you do.
    Of course you would.

If I say I think Van Gaal is funny and endearing can I get one of these too?

In fairness I'd say this is more eccentric Van Gaal than losing the plot/feeling the pressure Van Gaal.

Worth remembering that in Holland,Spain and Germany the press are more interested in discussing tactics and actual football stuff. The British press can be very gossipy and sometimes appear more interested in possible feuds or contraversy then actual football details.

I recall from a book read on Van Gaal how he frequently would discuss tactics in depth with press abroad, and on occasions brought in even whiteboards to draw stuff out.

Sure he gave a presentation last year to a Dutch university where he went into his tactics with Holland in depth. Really good watch by the way.

I'd put this down to more eccentric Van Gaal then pressure.

you don't watch the Spanish press reports so!!

He did a 'lecture' on tactics in the World Cup & had journo's enthralled. The British press want a story & can turn even the most mundane thing into a script for Eastenders.

"Embarrassing and pathetic" is a perfect description of this incident if you are applying to be a copy writer for the Sunday Sport.

A manager producing a pamphlet that rails against press stories calling his team "long ball" or some other manager taking the piss is not some "mundane" everyday occurrence.

It's actually a pretty weird thing to happen, in fact, I can't remember it happening ever before.

I havent seen it, but from what I've read it sounds like 'meltdown' is an extreme reach.

He took a story that has been running for two days (Sam & The Long Balls) and dealt with it in his own way with supporting stats. If this were to become a regular thing it probably wont be long before everyone is describing it as a breath of fresh air.

far from a meltdown, but he shouldn't have done it

I hate tiki-taka, passing for the sake of it, but I would take a 9-0 :)

Embarrassing, pathetic? Such a shame that he is trying to use stats with context.

Much better this way than Wenger Vs Jose handbags.

Poor Moysie, can't get anyone to have a post match tipple with him
"I've asked a few managers, like we do in the Premier League, to go for a glass of wine or a beer after a game," Moyes admitted. "Back in the Premier League, the managers spend 20 minutes having a chat, and it's not always football.

"But at the moment I'm not getting much joy. There's nobody coming into my little room to join me.

"From what I've seen so far from my time the communication between managers here is very limited. It's a difficult job being a manager and it's sometimes nice to speak to someone who is in a similar situation."

We are passing for the sake of it at times,LVG called it "defending using possession".

Carragher on twitter defending LVG. tldr: He did what was needed to get an equalizer.

We've all seen the 'genius' Jose stick Terry up front when chasing a game,so what if we do it now and again-it's not something new.

Ahh come on what's the man ment to do he is been criticized from all corners and he has big sam of all people making sniding remarks about long ball tactics id prefer to see him defending himself then saying nothing about it. Yhh the football is **** but at least he isn't backing into a corner I still believe he will get it right I time but todays conference was controlled it was not a meltdown.

    You went full Benitez

I know it's been said a million times, but its a shame it didn't work out for Moyes, he seems really, really decent.

I'd be more concerned about the success rate of the forward passes than anything.

From what I gather, thats from the 76th min on.
Quiet clearly chasing the game and I'm sure at least 2 of them came after the equalizer.

If Jose had handed out some stats for the lols or stats about 18th century football the media would be having a field day about how cool he is.

Difference is, the media have a raging hard on to paint controversy at utd. A lot of people buy too much into what the media have to say. Lvg isn't accountable to us. He dosent have to explain himself to is. To think he will answer the media questions 100% truthfully is deluding yourself. Some managers will, it's entirely optional for them, but I can't see lvg doing it and that will frustrate fans and the media.

I know I'm going to be jumped on for saying that fans have no power. But it's partially true. We are customers.

The stats weren't handed out "for the lolz", nor are they about 18th Century football (or maybe they are).

This is a manager who has allowed the press to get under his skin, and reacted to that.

He shouldn't be reacting like that, as manager of United.

the media hasn't handed out weird pamphlets to a press room.

And no, fans have 0 power, the TV men have the power, and it doesn't matter a shíte if you cancel your subscription, there are millions of others who won't.

The most recent deal, to be announced this afternoon, proves that.
