I thought the stuff in here about Munich was not overboard and not over done. Thanks to lads who posted stuff here.

I do hate though the people who use Munich or another tragedy as some sort of reason why they can say or get away with saying anything they like.

I bet many would never have known about the The National Stadium Disaster in Peru, The Katmandu Disaster, the Zambia national team air disaster or even the Burden Park disaster.

Sadly, football tragedies have occurred way too often. Be respectful, remember, but people who use it a a knife to throw at others are being as disrespectful as anyone.
I saw that movie Alive. It was really good.

Did you see the original or the remake? The original was a clasic I haven't watched it in years

Well nobody has done that here.

    Not today anyway.

Thankfully seems to be much better these days in general for it here.

Was talking more outside of here anyway.

Are the overseas broadcasters (i.e. setanta, etc for 3pm games) being decided in this auction as well? I thought it was just live UK rights. I doubt a non premium channel like UTVI would get the irish 3pm live rights surely?
Nope, the PL start at home with the UK to give out primary rights, Europe after usually and then the rest of the world... if you take note of recent games on Setanta you will fully understand why a return to FTA PL games is now possible with the BT/Setanta partnership.

Surprised to see the Man United thread not on the first page ! So I'd better post something!

I suppose for today a draw in the North London derby would be ideal, and for Everton to do a job on Liverpool

Anybody here old enough to remember RTE showing deferred coverage of games on a Saturday, they 'kicked off' at 3.30.

BT could be the big winner in any bidding, they started their Sports channels from sratch and have over 3 million subscribers in a very short time.

Wasn't too long ago, I remember Andy Ried playing for Spurs in a game. They also used to show Celtic week in week out.

Valencia won player of the month for last month. Those south Americans would vote for a goat in the competition if they were told it was also from south America.

While I in theory agree with your point. You are not the 3rd biggest spenders ,Ye are by any fair measurment the second biggest spenders and arguably the biggest spenders over the life of the premiership. Both Chelsea and City had to inject large amounts of cash to try and catch up their squads to Utds when they were bought by there sugardaddys but since that intial jump of cash Utd have outspent their rivals.

    City Net Spend
    1 years 28
    3 years 133
    5 Years 318
    7 Years 536

    Utd
    1 years 133
    3 years 255
    5 Years 301
    7 Years 267

    Chelsea
    1 years 18
    3 years 125
    5 Years 282
    7 Years 292

It's been a two days since I asked for a source and explanation of these numbers. They don't match up to anything on transfermarkt or transferleague, so I'm going to call bullshít.

Like I said, United were the third biggest spenders when Fergie left.

Only because you get it free with their Bb in the UK, if that wasn't the case how many would take it?

IF there packages are being split across multiple providers then prices will go up even more than if they remain with Bt and sky

Valencia player of the month for January....

Does that tell its own story?? Please dont tell me 'oh hes been in good form lately'
He has been shocking for years now and needs to be dropped.

It's the parochial vote that got it for him, form doesn't come into it.If it was on form,he'd owe us votes.

Would love to see McNair given a run out at RB against West Ham tomorrow. Let's see how he can do against a decent side.

remember it well.It didnt really matter as much in the 90's that it was deferred coverage.Only other way to know results was teletext or vidiprint.
There was no streaming and no chance of lads texting, yweeting etc results,so easy enough avoid the result for an 30 minutes.

Exactly how I use to spend my Saturdays them were the days of sports stadium it was michael Lyster or Lester presenting it then peter Collins for a while too. My first memories of watching united were on old bbc coverage in very late 80s I feel so old now ha

It pisses me off no end that LVG has said part of the reason Rooney gets the nod ahead of Herrera in midfield is because he is captain.

Just ****ing play Rooney up front FFS.

This Rooney in midfield bullsh1t isn't going to go away is it.

As I've said before Rooney being captain and the unwillingness to drop one of Falcao/RVP to the bench is causing us massive problems. If Rooney has to play then he should play in his best position.

Or if you are even older you will remember them showing them live at 3 pm before they eventually had to defer them.

The award ceremony lasted several hours as he repeatedly got to the top step and turned around and went back to his seat.

Ya, I remember that. It was late 80's when they moved to deferred coverage I think (about 88 or so?). I remember one memorable deferred game anyhow was at Elland Road where Liverpool were 4-0 up and Leeds came back but Liverpool eventually grabbed a 4-5 win.

I'd prefer arsenal to win this

Why?? They are closer to utd on points

Why?? They are closer to utd on points

Because there would be a bigger gap between 4th and the chasing pack, plus arsenal are the more likely to get a top 4 place regardless
