Tips for drying out a wet interior.

Ford Mondeo mk3, 2003 (pre facelift) saloon

I just discovered I have a leak on the passenger side door of my car, it seems to be a known issue with the mk3 mondeo where the water runs down through the inside of the door and leaks trough a membrane into the foot well. There are a number of fixes that I found online that seem like they would work. But my more pressing issue is to try and dry out the car. I have removed the door card to expose the foam card behind it. I have the car under some cover to prevent any extra water getting into the car, I also have an electric dehumidifier and heater running in the car. I have removed the mats but I can't remove the carpets.

Is there anything else I can do / try to help the car dry out.

You'll need to take the caprets out I'm afraid. The moisture is trapped and the carpets will just rot away otherwise.
It's actually nor a big job. Take your time unbolting the seats and any connectors.
Ring a few breakers. They might have a carpet in decent. Would be much handier to swap them for the sake of a few quid.

I'm sure it's obvious but be sure to leave one of the windows open a little when using the heater/dehumidifier. Nothing will ever dry out if the evaporating moisture has nowhere to go.

Used a dehumidifier to dry out car. Has a 3 litre tank to collect moisture. Just keep emptied or it will cut out. Windows closed and drivers door closed on lead, if not you will dehum the air outside car. When driving AC is good to dehumidify car interior.
