Places to teach someone to drive in Galway?

    Hi,

    Going to start teaching my girlfriend to drive and am looking for a good quite area in Galway any help would be great thank you.

    There's a good housing estate by the GMIT roundabout - on Google Maps it's just directly down from it. Good luck and remember not to argue/ have a domestic! :)

    The carpark at the IMC cinema/Aldi is usually deserted on Sunday evenings and has a lot of open space to get her started. Likewise, the parking lot behind NUIG's IT building is dead on Sundays.

    Best advice is get her a few lessons to get her going. It saves a lot of arguing and shouting and saves a lot of relationships.

    A good driving instructor has the patience for teaching and she will listen to him more than you. Also you will have bad habits developed which you will pass onto her . driving instructor will catch these at the start.

    Ye that will be down the line. She is fearful of driving so I am trying to build her confidence and get her use to the feel of a car. She doesn't even have her provisional licence yet, so that's why if I bring her to a quiet car park on a Sunday let drive around for a few weeks at least that will I hope encourage her to get her provisional. Its baby steps with her.

    A diesel car would be easier to drive , more torque than a petrol so it would conk out less.
    You might laugh as well but a lot of people learned the basics on a tractor.
    Tractor moves a lot slower, you are up higher so see more, you can set the hand throttle to be revved up a good bit more so it wont cut out
