    Hi All,

I have a a 6m head heating circulating pump and want to get something more powerful, not even sure what to look for when going outside of the typical...

The boiler house is out in the backgarden and has a long run into the house, then 2 storeys of 12 foot each and and a third storey with one rad. The header tank isnt much higher (maybe 1 foot) than the 3rd storey radiator.

System is a little bunged up in places, its been powerflushed which made a huge difference, but some rads, especially on the 3rd floor still arent getting fed properly, was hoping to install a more powerful pump to overcome this. If i shut off most of the rads, the others do get fed, so seems to be a pressure issue. Its a very old house, so dont want to go down the route of re-piping.

Is there a particular name to find these pumps? Do they go from like 6m heads to industrial and might be too powerful?

    Its an open vented system.

    Thanks,

Tank height is important. You can get 7 and 8 metre head pumps. If the system was powerflushed properly then you should have nothing bunged up anywhere

A bigger head may cause you issues with the header tank being so low, especially if u shut off rads .look at the intelligent pumps such as the Grundfos Alpha which cuts back the flow as the demand goes down http://ie.grundfos.com/products/find-product/new-alpha2.html
There are others, I just have this one so I know it...not cheap
