Anyone have any info on these. They come with a 2.2D Toyota engine have heard that there are issue with the. Can anyone give any further information. There seem to be very few with 2L Diesel engines. I be looking at 2010-2012 cars.

Lexus never sold the IS with a 2.0 litre diesel engine, they were all 2.2 and it's the same engine found in various Toyotas, but that should not matter on the newer tax system anyway. The IS200d is just a detuned and lower emissions version of the engine in the IS220d. The IS220d engine itself does not have a great reputation - head gasket failure is common as is egr value problems. They are not that refined or fuel efficient and the gearing is frustrating. Not sure if much of that changed with the IS200d but being honest there are better cars out there for similar money.

I had an is220d a few years back, i lasted 4 months until i got sick of the driving experience.

the gearing is awful, i couldn't get into 6th unless i was doing 130kph and anything under that the engine was labouring and was truly awful.

Also forget back seat legroom it wont exist.

Economy was poor, 38mpg at best, likely due to the terrible gearing.....

Get yourself a huge spec Avensis if your looking for Jap, or at the money you are looking at look into a good spec A4 for similar money, though u might have to go back a year or so.

If you want to stick to Jap stuff then look at the Honda Accord.
