Both the united and the aer lingus 757's left Shannon this mornings, but mightn't be returning.
UA 25 SNN-EWR is cancelled tomorrow. EI135 does not run on Tuesdays, but I wonder will EI134 make it back to SNN tomorrow morning.

Yeah, very unusual flightpath. Should they not switch to 28?
Staying in matagorda in lanzarote this year, near the airport. You either felt a rumble from aircraft taking off or deafened with the noise of ones landing.

It's dark. All you see are lights coming closer and closer and closer. Need high iso and very low shutter speed. Take it from me, you need to wait till June.

Plus, * mutters something about duvet and avoiding cold * kinda not still up tbh. Should be asleep.

    Except oh wait. Deafening aircraft.

Nothing wrong with Lingus 104. I'm on it in Biz. Got some good pics but still can't post them.

According to information UA24 from EWR-SNN will operate this evening. Does this mean that it will have to wait 2 days until Thursday to fly back? (Tuesday flight cancelled, UA25 doesn't operate on Wednesdays in the off peak winter time.) Maybe even later if there is a nice dusting of snow in Shannon Wednesday night and Thursday.

    Another Omni Air Mystery Flight.

N441AX obscured on FR24, out of Washington-Dulles for somewhere 'out East'. My first guess would be Amman, Jordan.

I'll probably get a slap on the wrist, but, off topic...

Into Rotterdam?? wonder why? or is is signal loss to A'dam? Archer etc., is one of the robber barons of the food industry, with 4/5 others such as Nestle they own/produce 85%+ of the food we eat. All are big players on the forward markets....

Interesting! Before today I hadn't heard of ADM.

Home base for their jets is Decatur, IL. From a quick query they also appear to have Falcon 2000s N785AD / N786AD, B350 N784AD and C510 N528DM. Nice...

Miami Air International 738 descending into Shannon. Took off from a mountain in Greece apparently. Anyone know anything about it?

I believe it is because the helos operate too low ( c. 1,600 ft ) and in areas of poor coverage ( coastal zones ) for sufficient triangulation to enable Mode-S MLAT.

Technically the AIS standard for marine traffic doesn't have the daft distinction that we do with Mode-S and ADS-B in aviation; AIS transmissions always include position data. So as soon as an AIS receiver picks-up a tx it can plot it. Hence they appear on the marine trackers.

In terms of policy, why are the helos not fitted with ADS-B? It was only certified on the type in mid-2014 and I suppose there are no funds for a retrofit...

I *think* the CAMBER 5xx flights are related to CENTCOM movements, so probably a Mid East origin and just picked-up as it coasted-in over Greece.

Intriguingly it has reverted to using the Mode-S hex of a previous identity as D-AXLI with XL Germany:

    Still retains the basic livery.

Meanwhile, here is the non-tabloid FACTUAL version of events. Blatant discrepancies have been highlighted by me.

    http://avherald.com/h?article=480de6fe&opt=0
    DAILYMAIL Version:
Inches from death: Passenger reveals bullet hole in the side of a flydubai jet which was shot at as it landed at Baghdad airport, injuring a young girl.
    • Bullets hit the fuselage of a flydubai airliner on its descent into Baghdad
    • Two passengers injured, prompting suspension of flights by UAE carriers
    • Flight FZ215 was hit by 'small arms fire' before landing on Monday
    • Twitter user posted picture he claimed was of a bullet hole in the cabin
    FACTUAL VERSION:
A Flydubai Boeing 737-800, registration A6-FEK performing flight FZ-215 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Baghdad (Iraq), landed on Baghdad's runway 15L when shots, fired from the Al-Radwaniya area just south of the airport, hit the aircraft causing damage to the aircraft. The aircraft rolled out without further incident.

Local media report two passengers received injuries as result of three rounds of shots were fired.

Airport officials reported the aircraft received damage, there were no casualties.

Flydubai confirmed the incident stating, that preliminary investigation does not suggest the small arms fire was aimed at the aircraft. There were no injuries, the damage was discovered only after the aircraft arrived at the stand.

As result of the occurrence all airlines based in the United Arab Emirates suspended flights to Baghdad but continue service to other destinations in Iraq.
