Trying to build a server

I have a 1U system with 4 disk in there and I'm simply trying to get an OS on there. Windows 2008 is fine for now but it doesn't actually see the disks. When I entre the BIOS they are there......RAID 5, 4 disks, 1 virtual disk. But there is a message that the BBU battery is either not installed, not charged or defective so the Write method is set to Write Through...or something.

I've researched the BBU and see that it's a backup to preserve cached data in the event of power failure. But TBH I'm not really that concerned about such a level of data security. This will only be a test box. Is there a way to operate without this BBU thing?

What RAID controller are you using? Or is it onboard?

It's a MegaRAID (3108?)

1. Start the Windows installation by booting from the appropriate Windows CD-ROM.
The system BIOS must support booting from a CD-ROM. BIOS settings might require
changes to allow CD-ROM booting. See your system documentation.
2. Press F6 when the following displays at the bottom of the screen, unless you are
installing Windows Vista:
"Press F6 if you need..."

Basically, you need to shove the appropriate drivers onto a flashdrive and point windows towards it during install so it can see that RAID array.

Got the appropriate driver from the LSI site onto a usb and the rest was plain sailing.
