Re-sitting honours Irish to get into primary teaching?

Hi all,

I am currently in the final year of an Arts degree and have applied to PAC for a second level PME. However, I've had a recent change of heart and have decided I'd prefer to teach at primary level instead. The problem is, I decided to take pass as opposed to honours Irish for the Leaving Cert. With higher level Irish being a prerequisite to get into any primary teaching course, I was thinking maybe I might take a year out from study next year and go back and take an honours Irish evening course in order to make myself eligible to apply for a primary PME.

What I want to ask is, do actually have to have obtained your honours Irish minimum grade C before you can apply for a primary PME or can you be provisionally accepted on the condition that you manage to get the said grade. For example, if I was to re-sit Irish in June 2016, would that be too late to get me into a primary PME in autumn of the same year if the application deadlines were that spring?

Best person to ask is postgraduate admissions for the colleges you're applying for. Give them a ring or email them what you've explained above

You need proof of your honours C grade Irish for the application- if that helps.
