The Express running with the story of United putting a £50 million valuation on De Gea & that they are looking to sign Pique for £15 million.

Please God let that be a no and a no.

18 players out of contract in the next 17 months - thats pretty high though about 5 of them such as Hernandez, Fletcher, Cleverly, Anderson, Powell etc etc are better off being sold now as opposed to keeping them on!

considering we have the highest wage bill about and alot of them are now in a position to renegotiate (and a good few of them will get a higher contract), youd have to wonder just what was going on behind the scenes in terms of managing our wage bill over the past 2-3 years.

The de Gea contract situation is the most frustrating. He should have been tied down 18 months ago.

The president of Palermo, Maurizio Zamparini, has told Italian media that it is likely Paulo Dybala will head to the Premier League when he leaves the Serie A club.

Dybala is favourite to join United in the summer.

i think Giggs is part of the problem to be honest.

hey homerjay. I'll ask one more time, if you have a second to reply. I'm really interested as to why you think Giggs is part of the problem and not getting a say in the formation\shape\tactics.

    cheers!

    You are just being pedantic.

Homer likes to doubt the management of the club along with others. That's all well and fine, discussion site, opinions etc etc.

A few of us like to put our faith in people who have been involved in the business for about 20 years.

I like to think the staff know what they are doing and others like to doubt them. No one is right, no one is wrong. We haven't a clue what goes on. Just like I'm pretty sure lvg knows how the team performs with a back 5 or a back 4. He isn't there licking windows.
I'm sure he knows about Rooney and di Maria in wrong positions.

Can people question it without knowing why? Of course they can, dosent mean you will get a fully detailed behind the scenes answer.

woooah babes... I'm interested in the detail of a response from one of my posts. Being pedantic would imply I'm troubled with minor details of some statement, I'm not troubled with it, I need it explained yo.

Saying our assistant manager is part of the problem and just leaving it there is a bit thin on the ground, it lacks the necessary detail, i.e. a fecking reason! Pointless to express it otherwise imo.

Sure I'm massively attracted to Mata, not sure why but you don't see me expressing it............. oh wait :)

With all due respect, it's a perfectly valid follow up to a point raised earlier and he's perfectly entitled to ask for a further explanation. And it's up to the poster being questioned then to offer an answer or offer no answer, for whatever reason. It's not really your call.

    Soz bae.

    Forgot to change that bit.

That's an impossible question to answer. You won't get an answer. It's easy to just say staff are cluless and don't know anything. Pretty impossible to prove it.

I guess you are the same as me so? You don't think the staff lick windows on their break?

What I meant by that was we have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, how do we know what Giggs and lvg do in private. Unless he works close to them I can't see a proper answer apart from an opinion.

It's impossible to get a factual answer.

Phelan didn't last long as manager

Lots going with the whole Bale De Gea swap, if De Gea wants out there's not much we can do and Bale would be a great acquisition his pace is frightening exactly what we need

t's impossible to get a factual answer.

Unless homerjay knows or heard something, or is basing it on Giggs manner, beliefs, preferences.

Of course it can be answered. Can it be answered accurately, 100%? - no. Can an opinion shared to us as to why (instead of just making a statement so vauge) - yes of course.

In all seriousness, you could speculate that Giggs is part of the problem because he might be an assistant manager that LVG doesn't really listen to. I said before that I'd be fairly sure that Giggs would be firmly against 3-5-2 unless LvG has convinced him otherwise (which I doubt he has, going on the actual performances)

Maybe LVG would be more willing to listen to a more established, experienced assistant. But then again, seeing what kind of person LvG is, I doubt that'd be the case either.

I'm sure there are tons of good assistants that aren't cut out for management.

I agree with you. I'm glad you called him out on it

    It's very tabloidesque.

    I agree.

I hate how LVG in this particular circumstance is outspoken (plainly I might add) as to what Giggs does or what he wants the media to think he does.

"He watches opposition and files reports on them"

Its like Giggs does the paper work and we kinda ignore a lot of it, we just play 3-5-2 keep the ball at a slow pace, knock it long when there's no pass on and hoping we nick a goal here and there.

I'm sure he knows about Rooney and di Maria in wrong positions.

    Consider the implication of that.

You have a team that is performing poorly. You say that the staff must know what they are doing, that they must know that players are out of position and they must know that the team is performing poorly with a back 5 or back 4.

So, what then? They can't be criticised because they must know what they are doing and we don't? Then how can anybody ever be criticised?
Lewis Hamilton drives the wrong way around a track, well, he must know he is driving the wrong way so we shouldn't criticise because we don't know what he is thinking. A boxer trains for his next fight by scoffing doughnuts and bacon for 3 months. I'd like to think he knows what he is doing so we shouldn't criticise his training regime.

I simply don't agree with that line of thinking, I'd prefer to judge what is in front of me. LVG may indeed know exactly what he is doing, but what he is showing is a shit sandwich of players out of position and performing terribly, so he deserves any criticism he gets.

Anyone else feel if DDG was gonna sign a new contract he would have already done so by now? If he hasn't by the end of January I'll be worried.

Its quite funny people have opinions on tactics/formations etc.. just by watching games on the TV!

You cant see 1/2 whats going on, on the tele!

Id only take opinions from match goers

Valdes could start on Friday, if the rumour mill is true.

Well I go to a few games every year and would disagree with this. Sometimes you'll even see more on the TV that if you're actually at the game.

He should be starting. He needs to be up to speed if De Gea gets injured.

Perfect opportunity to use him. See if he's good enough to challenge de Gea for the number one spot.
