Before Conor fights: He's all talk, he's only fought bums before this one will be the real test

After Conor fights: Ah he was ok but he's still only getting hand picked fights to build hype etc.

    He can't win :pac:

    Irish begrudgery.

    All caught up now.

How good was Paddy Holohan? Incredible performance from pillar to post. He'll be pissed about not getting the finish but he was outstanding. Really top level ground game from him.
In many ways, that defeat probably helped him to improve and boy did he show it. Brilliant stuff.

Pendred on the other hand. Dreadful fight and I can't even believe that two judges gave him a 30-27 score. Ridiculous considering he was badly rocked and knocked down in the first round and was on the back foot for most of that fight. Crazy decision. He needs to sharpen up big time.

McGregor was very very solid. Easily my favourite performance from him thus far. Very composed and stuffed two takedown attempts from a very good grappler. Kept the distance well and really utilised that 4" reach advantage over Siver.

EDIT: The face off with Aldo was slightly cringey but it's box office gold to the UFC with months of thrash talk and PPV buys before the fight. Might have to dig deep into the sofa for Vegas.

I remember when poirier was world class. And a true test.

    Now suddenly he's a bum.

I'm all for people saying stuff bout Conor being cocky arrogant hoping he gets KO'd and generally not liking Conor everyone entitled to their own view on him.

I don't really like him personality wise, I like to think he puts on a persona to gain hype and make money but I think we actually see the good side of him.

No one can say he has had easy fights, he has had tough fights, I would have liked to see him fight Mendes or Edgar next but they all have fought and lost to Aldo so Conor is entitled to his shot at the belt.

Anderson fought Franklin after one fight a quick KO of Leben,

For me Paddy is a Irish fighter to be proud of, comes across as a humble genuine fella

I'd put a case forward for Joseph Duffy too. Very likable and humble fighter.

    Fight Stats: Total Strikes - Pendred (66/153 - 43%), Spencer (63/159 - 39%). Takedowns - Pendred (4/16), Spencer (0/0).

Maybe the judges got it right?

I find that, especially in the case of tight calls, Joe Rogan's commentary sways the entire viewing public.

I dunno. I mean, two gave a 30-27 score. There was no way it was that clear cut. I mean, Pendred was knocked down in the first round and was hit with three big punches.

I had Cathal down two rounds to one for sure.

Just watching Pendred's fight back. Right at the end when Buffer is about to call the result, one of Spencer's corner goes behind him and looks at the score card and smiles. I was convinced that he had won it then.

But I think last night was the first time we've seen McGregor really at his best.
We didn't see any of his defensive Counter striking or movement, that we got verses Buchinger or Brimage. For the simple reason Siver wasn't pressing forward enough. But Aldo will be, and if Connor can bring that defensive movement along with his calm attack, he stands a decent chance.
As it stands, however, I cant see him winning against Aldo, who just looks so comfortable at that weight, and that's not something you can really say about McGregor, who really cuts to the extreme just to get within 145.
You have that backwards. Aldo is bone dry making 145, and it's getting harder. A la Barao. McGregor cuts a lot but spears to do it easily enough.
I think he made 145 this weekend to make a point.

Why do people like it? It's fake.

If I wanted to see trash talk I'd watch WWE.
In what way is it fake?
He jumped out if the cage and roared in his face. That's all it was and all its supposed to be.

Anyone make out what Paddy is saying to Lamas aka '40 chins' aka 'fat mess' (Conors words :D I think it's to do with the video Ricky made about Conor.

I actually scored it 29-28 to Cathal. I thought Spencer was clearly the better fighter but basing it purely on judging criteria I had him scrape it..I think I was swayed by the takedowns despite the fact he didn't advance his position.

Paddy: "You come into our club. You know where we are. There's no weak old men in Crumlin. I know we've got men in Crumlin"

    Lamas: "We'll see"

Paddy: "I know we have... What's his name? Dominic. No. Donal, that's it. When he puts his hand together man. That guy is a tough mother fúcker. I wouldn't roll with him, you know what I mean?"

That's all I can kinda make out.

Too right, and he was definitely smoking one of his funny cigarettes during the Cerrone fight, he gave Bendo much too much credit for those oblique kicks that did next to no damage.

Just remembered an interview I saw with Gunnar Nelson last summer:

Gunnar Nelson on good friend Conor McGregor: 'He's not putting on an act'

In a championship fight you have to weigh in at 145. In non title fights youre allowed come in 1lb over

When fighting for a title, both fighters must weigh in exactly on the weight limit of the weight class (i.e. 145lbs - Featherweight) where-as for non-championship fights, you get a pound extra allowance (hence Siever came in at 146lbs)

    Then we had Pendred.

What is with this guy. Talk about the luck fo the Irish.

got into TUF without winning a prelim. Got badly beatup by that Mexican but still won.

Then he has 3 fights in the UFC and should literally have lost every one.

He has a good chin and good heart but he's just hopelessly bad to watch.

What every about his recent decision wins, its a bit much trying to take the submission win away from him.

He's going to finish Aldo with a People's Elbow after an interference and chair shot from Rowdy Roddy Piper.

In fairness, he did knock him to the floor with a leg kick.

Aldo has some of the best leg kicks in the division, so it's fair to say that he thinks Aldo's leg kicks will be a big problem for McGregor.

Reading through this thread I thought you were trolling at first but knowing your history from the FSA forum you are unfortunately 100% serious. Worrying how you can lack even a basic understanding of two entirely different topics. Can you let me know which other forums you post in so I know to avoid them. Cheers.

Read above. Not sure how people can go around accusing someone of trolling when they're just basing their view.
